Something seems very wrong here. - Gemini893 - 05-18-2012 I built a LABC and after equipping it and mounting a cloaking device I find that I only have 105 out of 1000 cargo space left. So now I'm scratching my head and thinking that the cloak is actually completely useless because I don't have the cargo space to support it anymore. How do I find out what is taking so much room in my cargo hold?? I know 300 is the Cap 8 armor, what is taking up the other 600 spaces??? and WHY??? To me I don't see how weapons or any other equipment would take up cargo space. ships are built to equip things and to carry things. this new idea is REALLY FREAKING STUPID. My suggestion is you lose the armor or upgrade to a larger ship. Something seems very wrong here. - Gemini893 - 05-18-2012 so, basically, if I want cloak I should have no weapons. yes, this makes a whole lot of sense. I'd like to know if server owners have the option to turn this <strike>crap</strike> feature off. Something seems very wrong here. - sindroms - 05-18-2012 No, you trade armor for stealth, actually. And I think the maximum time you can get on a cruiser in general is a few minutes. What did you think, you'd be flying around all invisible for hours? Something seems very wrong here. - Mickk - 05-18-2012 Since the update, every turret or gun on the larger ships takes up cargo space, whether it is mounted or not. This was actually mentioned somewhere, but I can't find it right at this point. Something seems very wrong here. - Gemini893 - 05-18-2012 I don't understand how mounted weapons, mounted on the exterior of the ship, can take up cargo space at all, much less twice as much cargo space as the cap 8 armor upgrade. It just doesn't make sense to me from an engineering standpoint. No, I did not expect to fly around cloaked for more than a few minutes but I DID expect to be able to do some combat without having to return to base or jettison every few seconds. with only 105 cargo space able to be used on a LABC you may as well take the tractror beam off my ID while you're at it because it, too, is useless. I do not want a larger ship, as was suggested, I chose the LABC for RP reason more than PvP. The cap 8 is purely a PvP decision. I think if the devs were really concerned with limiting the length of time a ship can remain cloaked then they should have made the fuel consumption rate higher instead of messing with available cargo space in the method they chose. Anyone with any knowledge at all of engineering will say the same thing, it makes no sense. I will ask my previous question again, a bit more diplomatically: Do server owners have the ability to turn this feature off? I've been asked to find out for the server I play on most often. It's one thing to say it's for balance, but it's illogical to say that advances in technology are leading to what amounts to an excuse to limit player's game playability. Something seems very wrong here. - sindroms - 05-18-2012 Think of it this way. Each ship has its own maximum mass which is not to be exceeded in order for the ship to retain its maneuvering and normal operation. Each turret with all the internal devices needed to fit it, adds mass. If you add armour on the outside of the ship, it adds mass. Your cargo space does not become smaller. You simply may not fit more cargo on it not to overstep that line. Something seems very wrong here. - Pancakes - 05-18-2012 It don't have to make sense, it's about balance. Also, it's balanced that way since not only battleships or battlecruisers use cloak, but other types of ships too. Something seems very wrong here. - phileditin51 - 05-18-2012 So a ship the size of a city ( Renzu Liner Infocard ) has to lose cargo space in the name of balance, as a former Naval Engineer, that's BS. It's not balance at all, as I said, a ship that size wouldn't even notice the additional stuff as it's built to have that equipment as standard issue. |
