Rheinlanders needed a Freelancer base they could reach, but the current location in Koeln is only accessible to Rheinlanders, and everyone else has to go through Rheinland house space to reach it (the exception, oddly enough, is Liberty can go through Duesseldorf). By contrast, Barrier Gate in Coronado is easily accessible to Bret and Liberty, and reachable from Kusari and Outcasts without passing through anybody else' house (but a long trip for both of them).
It would make a lot more sense if Heisenburg was somewhere like Sigma-17, then Rheinlanders, Kusari, Outcasts and Corsairs could all get to it with a bit of effort.
Just a thought.

It would be interesting to see, however I am sure that there will be some kind of trade balance issue that would be brought up.
More realistically, Heisenburg is far closer to the Omegas from what I can tell... it links to Stuttgart and not to Frankfurt, at least... I don't think so. You know, re-reading this I realize you are suggesting moving the entire station rather than linking it to a specific system. I was befuddled. But yeah, a Freelancer base in the Sigmas would be good to see, more in general actually...
But yes, there should be more Freelancer bases. And no, building one yourself doesn't count.
The main issue with Freelancer bases is that they are written off as being really expensive to maintain, and houses are so anal about their laws that no group that even has reasonable reasons to build a base in house space can't do so without an official faction stamp and friendly feelers in the local military or risk gang bang.

I agree with Ursus here. A freelancer base in Koeln is stupid somehow. Just move that damn thing to Omega 15. Boom. Contected to Rheinland, the Corsairs and the Hessians can reach it (question is, why should they?). Thoughts?

We have enough Zoner bases where almost everyone can land. What would be the reason for more Freelancer bases anyways?
And you can buy your Debs at FP 1 in Omega 3 or FP 2 in Bering when you are from Rheinland.

Helgoland would be way out of the price range for any Freelancers to buy up. That would be reserved for Kusari or GMG.

Zoners are supposed to be what Freelancers are anyway, minus the mercenary side fo things. If it weren't for Disco's stupid Zoners, barrier gate would probably b a Zoner base, because it makes sense for what Zoners are supposed to be.
