Cloak bug - Liamgly - 06-26-2012

Ok I was in New york when I encountered a member of the SFC| now me being a pirate he pew'd and eventually I had to engage my cloak. When My cloak was fully engaged he continued to Cruise disrupt me using a Glitch where by you scan the ship just before it cloaks and then your Cruise disrupters will automatically track it as will Missiles and all things that have auto tracking systems.

My question is this, Is this against the rules? I think it is because I feel it's the exact same as abusing/exploiting game mechanics or a game bug .. whatever you want to call it. I think it's exactly as bad as using /stuck to get inside a base so an enemy can't shoot you

Is it a bug?

If you dont stay out of scanning range prior to cloaking, i would think its your bad luck.

The whole point of getting a cloak is to evade capture by the enemie the fact that they can't hit you with a cd if they don't scan you prior to scanning means that the moderators didn't want anyone to be able to CD a ship that's cloaked by any means, but that's my opinion. Besides how are you supposed to get out of scanner range when he's clearly in a fighter and has a CD.

Quote:Have you changed ship direction after cloaking? Or were you trying to cruise in the exact same direction?

Yes I changed direction several times each time his CD tracked me Battelships also use this glitch to spam missles at cloaked cruisers ect.

What do you mean by "scan" and "scanning"?

I can confirm this bug, tested yesterday on two of my ships ... even when fully cloacked, dirrection changed and everything -- cd's always follow me ... even if I'm in the opposite direction of the player who lauches cd's.
That makes cloaking devices completely unusable ... just becouse the player knows where are you in every second

I mean they scan the ship like you know Scan like scanning a trader to see what cargo it has. Anyways if you leave the Scan window open until the cloaked ship disappears then your cd's can track it

Well, as someone using a cloak-bomber I can confirm this situation as well.

It seems like the game "remembers" the last target you aimed at, even if it has cloaked. So the missiles, no matter of what kind, keep tracking the cloaked target.

Well that sounds like a bug to me, but maybe it's a feature, could kind of make sense if it was. It really just needs an admin/dev answer on weather its a bug or a feature. Regardless though, I dont think it's sanctionable, its just players playing as best they can, two [RM] did it on my Johnathan LeStrange, and I certainly didnt whine about it afterwards.

Nope you need to scan them and keep them scanned for it to work because that's the only way it works
