I am in the proces of outlining a newb guide that will tell new players how things work, with the purpose of getting them through the awkward confusion phase a little faster. Basic subjects are ~what does RP mean, what is ID and IFF, how to make money, stuff like that. The guide will have to be small enough for poeple to read, so it cant cover everything, but I want to make sure the important stuff is in there

So... for those of you who like to interact with newbies, what subjects do you think would be helpful?

Wether to do mining or trading (and if it matters, I dont think it does... either way will get you money eventually... its a grind to start just like any game with MMORPG elements)

How to do the jump-up on the cargo ships at the start to get a good foundation, how to find those armor wrecks that can give you a really good start.

Where to start trading, a good startup ship on the trading...

Personally, I went Camara > Transport > Normal Train > Large Train (largest at the time, 4500 cargo) when I first started.

Eh.

Its all really subjective how you make money...

A guide on how the ID system works would be lovely. It need not be long, but needs to clearly define how the ID system works.

Perhaps a New Player Quick Start Guide, a guide that explains the restart system and the restarts so a new player is familar with them. This guide would split into two branches one for beginner trading and one for beginner mining (helium!) in order to set up the player's trader character so they can easily build funds for other characters.

A new Welcome Guide as Dusty's is rather out of date.

I'd say a 'what is role play guide' but there are already a few of them out there.

Perhaps a guide to the Tech Nerf system also, I'd say that this and the ID system guide would be combined though.

I did write a Welcome to Discovery guide in the Welcome forum, feel free to add to that if you wish.

Just remember, people like to do, not read, if it's too long and boring people won't read it, hence why the rules are never read by newbies.
