They've got a precise time for the landing now? Thanks for the information, had somehow forgotten about this whole thing since last time I checked up on the Curiosity mission.
And they're not "planning" a live stream of it - most major events like these are streamed live on NASA TV and this the biggest ROV landing on Mars so far. They're starting the stream from the Curiosity mission @ Aug. 5, 10:31 pm PDT, to be precise. Unfortunately, most of them (like this one) are in the middle of the night European time, but that's not a hindrance to most. Can't wait to see how it goes.:)

If it weren't timed and calculated precisely, it wouldn't land without turning into a pile of rubble.
Also, the Science Channel is planning a several-hours episode on that rover while this goes on, with the landing shown at the end.

Since it is in my scope because of the reactor it was discussed a lot at work today, nuclear again is the feature.I hope everything works just fine.
If the russians also success with their own project with the nuclear Plasma Thrusters,the ships would fly 25 times faster then nowadays best options and the Solar system would be open for us- it would be clear in less then 5 years.
