Changing the registration rules - sindroms - 08-03-2012 I am drunk, so perhaps do not take this thread TOO seriously. So in the current registration rules of our forum, it specifically states that you need to be 13 years or older to register. Fair enough. But this severely limits the forum in the terms of making it ''family friendly'' to all ages. I know only a couple of people who are below 18 here on Disco, but even they agree that restricting profanity and sexual posts on a gaming forum will never make it more friendly to underaged individuals. Not to mention, isn't it what they do anyway? Now, the reason as far as I can imagine, is a law based one. But what if we turn the forums to be 18+? Or at least dedicate a special section for all the more less family friendly posts, which require the individual to set his birth date to the proper one. Fanfics, jelly rape, there are so many things missing from Disco. Why not give the older peeps what they want. Swearing is not allowed. Fair enough. But perhaps give us a, so to speak, smoker's corner on disco forums? (Obviously, this cannot be applied to the ingame rules, because it is not mandatory to join the forums.) Changing the registration rules - Omicron - 08-03-2012 Why not visiting 4chan or other reddit? Changing the registration rules - ulfsarkhuskarl - 08-03-2012 Any under 18 can always change his birthday to something that will always be over 18, why bother? You want porn? Google is your answer. You want to swear? Yell all you want. Changing the registration rules - Petitioner - 08-03-2012 Even if we all agreed with you, Spazzy, it just wouldn't happen. You aren't the first one to suggest this. Also, I have to bring you some clean water when I come to Latvia, yes?:D Changing the registration rules - Hell Hunter - 08-03-2012 about everyone ''over 13'' swears whats the point in a no swear everyone swears its not like it means something. aslong as it doesnt insult. Changing the registration rules - Corsair - 08-03-2012 Some people have delicate constitutions. They can't handle a bit of spice in their language, even though many characters would swear in-RP. Case in point: Pirates. They wouldn't bother to censor themselves. DELETE - SnakThree - 08-03-2012 DELETE Changing the registration rules - Marburg - 08-03-2012 The rule doesn't exist to protect little children. No one on staff is naive enough to think that. There are a number of people around that believe it's done 'all for the kids' but they're just gullible. The rule simply exists to clamp down on those who prefer to swing on the lowest common denominator. btw, claiming drunkeness is a lame excuse...One people tend to use when they know how stupid an idea is when otherwise sober but wanna say it anyway and still keep the option open to disavow it all later.:P Changing the registration rules - Quorg - 08-03-2012 ' Wrote:\But what if we turn the forums to be 18+? It's rather silly to restrict our characters from doing perfectly human things like swearing and having sex. "Oh, yeah, I'm a grizzled, hard-core war-veteran space-pirate, but gosh-darned-it-golly-jee-willikers I could sure use a hug from a respectable young lady and maybe we can get married!" |
