A Chance at Freedom

Background

For a few years now Liberty has been encroaching on the freedoms many Zoners have enjoyed in the Pennsylvania system. This has lead many to begin migrating from planet Erie into the Omegas and Omicrons. Omicron Supply Industries, in an effort to build Gran Canaria's industrial strength and expand their own business in the same has offered to assist 50,000 Zoners on Erie migrate to Gran Canaria.

Not having the resources to move all of the immigrants themselves, OSI plans to contract what it cannot handle out to third parties. Many of Nichols Trade Center's cargo warehouses will be converted into temporary housing until permanent housing planet side can be arranged for the immigrants. The immigrants will be given information on their new home in Omega 49 and be given training on the jobs that are needed to boost Canaria's industrial strength.

--------------------------------------------------

In order to partake in this event, you must preregister here so that your ship can be added to Nichols' green list. Once this event is started, Nichols will be locked down to prevent people from docking unless they've registered here.

Nichols will buy the Passenger commodity at 5000 per unit; specifically the passenger commodity that is bought on planet Erie in Pennsylvania for 823 credits. There will either be uncut diamonds or cobalt ore on Nichols for the return trip, purchasable at 7000 per unit.

I'd like to have another sell point for slavers to drop passengers they've abducted on. Other than slavers I hope this will also give some of the more unlawful elements targets of opportunity.

--------------------------------------------------

Thoughts, suggestions, and ideas to improve on this are wanted.

Sounds like a great idea for an event! Thanks for coming up with the idea - this is exactly the kind of stuff official factions should be doing!

Advice:
1) Set the buy price fairly high for the Slavers base to encourage cargo piracy rather than simple /givecash piracy. We already have too much of that!
2) Require that all of the Slavers and pirates register, so that they can be set as hostile to Nichols (at least for the duration of the event) and non-hostile to the Slavers base.
3) Ensure that the reputation of all of the passenger transport ships is set to hostile to the Slavers base.
4) Try to think of a way to prevent Slaver ships for this event from simply buying passengers in Liberty and transporting them to the Slavers base. I can't think of anything at the moment.

I'd like to register my ship as a passenger transport for the event:

Ship name: Savage.Salvage
Ship type: Junker Salvage Frigate
Affiliation: Junkers

Slavers and pirates will be required to register as the base I have lined up for them will also be locked down and only allow them to dock (if the owner lets me borrow it).

What I am worried about is that they will not pirate the traders and simply buy the goods themselves.

I'm trying to balance the event in such a way that I don't lose a ton of credits.

There are 7 different "Passengers" commodities, and unfortunately the one you (commodity_passengers_li) want sells for 500cr right next door.

I suggest a base a bit further away, like the omicrons or sigmas.

commodity_passengers_bw

Is the one I am using. Sells on Erie.

Ah... well seems there is no hope. commodity_passengers_bw.png such a well covered map.

Aye. I'm contemplating setting it to a low price and requiring screens of the piracy attempt in order to get the full payout.

Great Idea... I would deffo be up for signing up!:)

Possibly a solution would be to make the payment via the forums?
Make the base buy them for the price bought on Erie then ask for screens of buying and selling
with time stamps... and then pay them via the forums?

Would make very little difference due to the fact people have to register here to play in the event
anyway...

Also with the base still buying you would know when the entire 50k had been moved.

Well Sam Owens of the Colonial Movers' Atlas is already fitted to carry refugees, so it's not much of a stretch to bring passengers. I'd be interested to take part after you sort out exactly how you're doing it.
