Gen Otsuka had been reluctant to give in to the demands of his wife, but through logic and a flurry of percussive punches, she convinced him. They would sub-let the family home on New Tokyo '€“ a rarity in that it was not a floor of a tower complex '€“ in order to save enough to start funds for their grandchildren.
She would stay at the restaurant whilst he would drift between assigned posts, returning occasionally.

Planet Honshu, above Misukos restaurant. Gen backs away tentatively from his enraged wife.
Misuko had been adamant '€œYou old fart! How else are we going to provide for our family!?'€ he had been about to answer when a pan narrowly whizzed by his head.
'€œAnd what are you complaining about anyway you old coot!? Now you can finally do something useful instead of dancing around in your pyjamas!'€
Gens emphatic nodding did nothing to dissuade his wife from breaking a plate over his head. '€œHai hai my darling, my delicate orchid, it is just that: our old place means a lot to me, my grandfather grew up there and it is authentic!'€
Misukos answer was preceded by another porcelain projectile '€œBaka! That's exactly why we have to rent it out! It's prime real estate you fool! We'd be mad not to capitalise!'€
Gen managed to escape out of the door just as a knife embedded itself into the hardwood. Outside he breathed a sigh of relief and began strolling to take in the night air. He managed two steps before a plummeting plant-pot shattered upon contact with his skull. '€œAnd no 'discounts'! Got it?!'€ Misuko did not wait for a reply and slammed the window shut. Gen replanted the flower and marched off to advertise his beloved property.

An aged man is giving a tour of an old house in the Shibuya district of new Tokyo.
Amaya passed through the gates and small garden, knocked on the old patterned wooden door and waited. An old man opened the door and greeted her '€œAmaya I presume'€ he gave a small bow '€œPlease come in'€ he invited as he assessed the woman from feet to head.
Gen led the way, occasionally turning back to the woman for acknowledgement '€œ...and of course, as a listed building, any changes to the exterior have to be passed by the prefecture council. Even the colour of the paint has to match the original. None of that fibreglass or plasteel, as you can see Miss Amaya, it is all original, authentic construction. A decent small family home'€ he raised his eyebrows as if suggesting his guess at the womans use for the House. The silence lasted a moment too long, Gen coughed and continued '€œor as a very generously spaced place for a single woman I suppose.'€
A light chuckle filled the air. "Ah, it won't be used as a family home, hai. And it won't be a single woman, but two!"
She smiled at him and then turned to take a good look at the interior. "Well, it certainly looks very nice, but I'm surely not looking forward to cleaning all of this."
She sighed. "Because I'll be sure to make a mess out of it soon enough."
Another light-hearted chuckled escaped her mouth and she advanced further into the room, occasionally touching pieces of decoration.
"But don't worry. We won't be -too- bad to your lovely house."
The old mans face expressed interested surprise '€œTwo...two single women'€ the older man sat for a moment. '€œI am sure you will both enjoy...I mean..both handle the maintenance easily.'€ he smiled, nodding his head '€œHai, hai I can see you both...taking very good care of this place. Playing games in your pyjamas....'€
Misuko appeared, a cigarette hanging from her down-turned mouth. No-one had heard her arrive, nor could say where she appeared from. She slapped Gen in the side if the head '€œBaka! You didn't even mention the deposit!'€ She smiled at Amaya as her husband meekly paced away. '€œso, you must have a good job hai? And you want to share this place with another girl?'€ she cocked her head forward and cast her eye over Amaya speculatively.
Amaya put on a sweet smile. "Hai, I would share this place with another girl. A friend of mine. We know each other from work."
She thinks for a moment. "This all was her idea actually. I guess she feels a bit lonely or something."
The older woman nodded rhythmically "Hai, Hai I see: you both work, that is good..." her cigarette bobbed vertically as she spoke "It's better than living with a useless husband I suppose. So what do you think Miss Amaya? Will you take it? '€

As she was sitting between two businessmen in the subway train she took to get to Shibuya district, Junko was thinking about all this.

All things considered, she wasn't sure it was such a bright idea.
Why did she really want to live with that annoying girl in the first place? They had nothing in common, and she could easily imagine how annoying she would be for her.

Perhaps it was because she somehow reminded her of her younger sister she was yet refusing to see, despite Fuyuko being the only one still more or less willing to keep contact with her in her former house.

She just couldn't stand to hear her talking about futilities like fashion things or gossips all day long.

Junko however had to admit she was feeling lonely.. At times.
She didn't plan to spend her life in that house anyway. She wouldn't see much that little face, and it wasn't as if she was her elder sister, caring about her not doing stupid things.

She sighed and stood up as the train was slowing down for the next stop. It took her a while to figure out she made a mistake by coming out at that stop.
She should have done so on the next one.

Sullen, she eventually found her way and started to walk, giving at times a look at the district. It was a nice place... Somewhat.

That house should have been somewhere nearby...
Junko was quite sure to be lost; No doubt she was already late now.

Eventually, she found the house she was looking for and, failing to find any doorbell, slowly pushed the door, sticking in her head slowly.

"Hello? Anyone here? I'm coming in..."

Once she did so, she headed towards the house as she noticed two women and a man were standing on the lounge opened to the garden.

Standing in front of the entry she bowed casually.
"Good afternoon. Please accept my apologies. I lost my way while coming here."

Nodding slightly at Amaya, she then took off her shoes and, walking on the terrace towards the group, added :

"I presume you are the owners? My name is Sanada Junko. I'm the one who contacted you following your rent announcement. Glad to meet you in person."

She then considered the couple, somewhat noticing the tensions that seemed to exist between then.

Amaya took a look around and then turned back to the woman, smiling at her.

"I'm tempted to say yes, but we'll have to wait for my friend I'm afraid. Unfortunately I can't decide for her..
She suggest this place though, so I'm sure she'll agree as well."

She heard some noise at the entrance and turned around to see Junko approaching them.
That girl looked as stressed as usual. She probably never has fun. Something Amaya hoped to change in the time they'll spend together in that house.

[color=#FFFFFF]"Oh there she is already."

Amaya gave Junko a quick wave. "Hey there! I was just talking about you when you entered!"

The man bowed twice, a smile stuck to his face like an imbecile. His gazed past his wife at the two younger women. Misuko paused before bowing, casting her eye over the pair. She puffed on her cigarette and assumed a resigned visage as she sighed: deciding that there was no gossip to be had here; the two younger women probably did not 'swing' ~that~ way...probably.
'€œHai, nice to meet you both...'€
Gen interrupted '€œOh! Sanada-sama! It would be a pleas...an honour to give my superior a hands-on tour of the House.'€
Misuko barked back toward her husband '€œBaka! Don't paw all over her like a dog!'€
'€œI must apologise for my husband, he is a dog. Let us give you some time to wander and discuss things with your...friend.'€ Misuko dragged Gen through the garden backwards.

Junko didn't quite make the connection at first.

Was that man provoking her by making some ironical joke about women's so called superiority or was it a subtle remark regarding her behavior?

Raising an eyebrow while staring at him unkindly, she asked politely :
"Superior...?"

She then turned around as the couple was leaving to give Amaya a questioning glance.

Amaya just smiled and shrugged, watching the couple leave.

"I don't know what he meant. He's kind of a nice old man though."

She turned around to Junko and nodded towards the house.
[color=#FFFFFF]"It's pretty nice I think. I'd say we take it."

Then she sighed a little. "Even though it will be such a bother to move all my stuff.."

Raising an eyebrow, she pondered
"You have that many things in wherever you live? All i have is a bed, a reasonable amount of ancient books, a cat and a few pieces of furnitures..."

She then gave a look around.
"... But perhaps i will just get rid of them since it already seems to be furnished here... I guess i could help you to move all your so shiny things anyway but first thing first... Let's visit."

While they were walking in the house, she gave Amaya an inquisitive look.
"What was with the old man. You didn't try to seduce him do you...? And did you talk about the rent? And is there any deposit to do? I don't know about you, but i'm not that rich. I do hope it isn't too exorbitant."

Junko used the stairs to check the second floor and, gazing at the partitions, somewhat mumbled to Amaya :
"Walls are quite thin. I do hope you are not used to listen to music or do parties in the middle of the night. Because then we will have a problem."

That said, she stopped in front of her, frowning and her arms akimbo.

Amaya knocked on one of the walls and shrugged.
"You'll be inivited to those parties, don't worry. That's what you were worrying about, hai?"

She seems to think for a while. [color=#FFFFFF]"We didn't really talk about the money yet.."
"The woman did mention a deposit... We sort of got interrupted by you though."

She shrugs again and smiles. "I doubt it will be a big problem. I'm sure I could convince the nice man to give it a bit cheaper."

Visible through the open doors, Gen and Misuko conferred. '€œSo, they are obviously better navy than you: how much do you think they get paid?'€
'€œOh, at least half again as much as me: maybe more. my precious flower.'€
Misuko nearly smiled '€œhm '€“ maybe you are not completely stupid. Can you remember how much the advert asked for?'€
Gen scratched the top of his head '€œuhm...I know it had a four in it.... four credits?'€
Misuko struck her husband with a wooden spoon at each word '€œbaka! Four?! Forty four?! Think harder idiot!'€
Gen reeled backward with each hit '€œOw! Hai!... Ow! Twenty four?! Four hundred?! Ouch '€“ Oh! One thousand four hundred.'€
The woman stopped her spoon-lashing '€œHai that sounds about right '€“ and the deposit?'€ she raised the spoon threateningly.
Gen made a scholarly face '€œI believe that was two thousand.'€
his wife replied sarcastically '€œOh look, I married a genius.'€

As they were discussing, the couple watched the two women go upstairs and visit their house.
Gen was practising the difficult art of peeking at them while pretending to give his full attention to his wife.
Yet, despite his mastery in such a domain, Misuko had the eyes of the eagle and the jealousy of the jellyfish.

Puffing on her cigarette angrily, she said in a trivial way
"Those two women are attractive, aren't they?"
"Not as much as you, my delicate lamb."

His sweet reply was followed by a couple of vigorous slaps that made him assume a reasonable yet uneasy distance from his lovely wife.
But Misuko wasn't the kind to give up that easily. She came closer to beat him with her handbag, making him raise his arms to protect his face patiently.

"Hm... Sorry to interrupt..."

The two women were standing on the covered alley before the entry. Junko looked somewhat embarrassed; Amaya, more curious than anything.

"You two did like the visit?" asked Misuko, leaving her husband be.
"Hm hai. That's very spacious and beautiful... A large family could live there."
"Indeed. And the district is quite animated with a lot of luxury shops and bars nearby. That will be fun."
"You're right, miss! And if you need anything once you're installed, i would be honoured to help you."

An insistent stare from his wife followed that remark, making Junko raise an eyebrow in perplexity. Was that man doing it on purpose?
"That's er... Very gentle of you... Otomo... Otaku... Hm. My apologies, but i forgot your name."

Gen smiled widely.
"Oh, do not worry about that, Sanada-sama! I know you are a very busy officer and you cannot remind every subordinate you fly with. I'm Otsuka Gen."

Perplexity changed her expression to a somewhat comical pout while she was gazing at Amaya, as if she was begging an explanation.
But the other woman just shrugged, raising her hands in a de-negating way.

"Wait you mean... You are in Naval Forces...?"
She suddenly opened her eyes widely.
"Ojisan?"
