An Idea - Ion - 05-23-2008 I have observed in my time on discovery, the development and instatement of several new server administrators. This server has a dedicated, but understaffed admin/mod team, and the community reacts as such. The system by which the community gets a say in the picking of a new admin/mod is somewhat one sided, given the choice of a new admin or none, the community will pick a new admin/mod (within common sense). Its good to get feedback (such as Xorias current thread, If he takes in the comments of those who voted against, he will make a fine admin), however the voting system is a bit of a joke as i see it. I propose a nomination system, and it would work something like this: 1. You cannot nominate yourself. 2. you would fill out this form and submit it privately: Quote:Forum name of member nominated: 3. The person administrating the nominations would then contact the nominee, ensuring they are willing to enter into the responsibilities required. 4. A list would be formed, with all the data, and Igiss and the admins would then be able to choose any or none of the nominees for any responsibilities, how they see fit. 5. The Admin's nominee(s) would then be revealed to the community, and instead of a vote, anyone with concerns regarding the chosen nominee(s) would be free to voice their opinion, allowing said nominee to either be denied(unlikely) or to learn from the community. During this process, submissions would also be available by PM, if a person has issues to raise that (s)he feels would not be positive for the community to discuss. and as to the matter of administrating the process... I am willing to do that, with the help of others if you feel I am biased. This whole process will have at least 2 positive effects: 1. the current admin team will have a list of potential candidates with pros and cons, 2. the community will have the ability to put forward what they feel are good candidates for the job. feedback here please. An Idea - bluntpencil2001 - 05-23-2008 I like it. I know who my first nomination will be! No, it's not Puck. Or is it!?:P But in all seriousness, in spite of the lack of voting, this allows for more player input than the current system. An Idea - DBoy1612 - 05-23-2008 Actually this is a brilliant idea here, lets give it a try. *Deletes Nomination* An Idea - Eppy - 05-23-2008 I like it, Puck, I think it's got merit for sure. It'll have a bit of red tape to go through, obviously...Admins? An Idea - Zapp - 05-23-2008 Just to head it off, on the off chance it happens, if any of you get it in your fool heads to nominate me, DON'T. I don't wanna be an admin.;)And you'd be a fool to vote for me. An Idea - bluntpencil2001 - 05-23-2008 Also, it needs a question asking why the hell your opinion counts. Heh. I don't know if I'm joking here, actually. An Idea - sovereign - 05-23-2008 EDITED OUT. This system looks pretty awesome. Let's do it! An Idea - Ion - 05-23-2008 oops... also meant to include that all nominations should be private, for the sake of the nominee. An Idea - bluntpencil2001 - 05-23-2008 Well, I'mma get scribbling up some nominations in the hope that this passes. I can think of two or three. I think Supernova might want the job...
