My fellow citizens. Allow me to tell you a story. A story of a place where we have long since cherished as a meeting ground for generations way before my time.

I present to you, Newark Station. Newark Station has always been a place one turns to for relaxation. A place where many chance encounters have occurred. A place where many a pilot have chatted up another pilot and made friends. A place where many hold dear in our hearts. In the void of space, even whilst flying along the busy trade lanes, one would rarely find company. Whereas on Newark, one can easily makes friends.

I would liken Newark to a park. A place where people meet to hang out and to relax. A place where people socialize and chat up with friends. A place where one goes to socialize. All without the hassle of getting out of your space craft and having your view restricted by the thick walls of a station.

I met my wife near Newark. When I was a young lad, I'd chill out on top of Newark and talk to a sweet young girl who worked as an escort for DSE. I remember as if it were yesterday. Every Wednesday, a convoy will arrive on Manhattan and I would meet her on top of Newark to chat. The area around Newark is very dear to me.

Today, we witness an unjust act by the government of Liberty. The robbing of this meeting point from us. No longer can people chill out on top of Newark. No longer can people chat up old friends passing by. No longer can we enjoy the unrestricted view of Planet Manhattan from our space ships. Why? Because we'll get fined by the LPI! To charge credits for enjoying our favourite hang-out. Is there no end to this greed for credits?!

I call upon those who bear a grudge for what Liberty has done! I call upon all those who hold Newark's space dear in our hearts! I call upon all Libertonian citizens who feel they have been treated unfairly! We don't have to stand for this? We don't have to obediently follow what the government says! We -CAN- make the difference! We shall stage a peaceful demonstration! A protest against Liberty! A protest against parking fees for Newark!

Now who's with me?!

Remind me to ask HQ if we still get a bonus if we're involved in riot control, it's a nasty business and I'd hate to be left uncompensated.

Meeeh. I see no reason for you to be all up-in-arms about a simple parking permit. If you're that mad, go sit above Trenton. The view is better there, anyway!

I am no fool!
You think I'll be calling upon a violent riot?
I'm opting for a peaceful demonstration. The most you can do is fine me for public disturbance. I know my house's laws.
But if you do fine me, it'll just be proof the the greed the government holds. It won't do you any justice.

Subject: Newark Station, Parking Permits
[color=#FFFFFF]Interspace Commerce asked the LPI for the restrictions because they didn't want thier base being used as a "park" anymore. Its thier property, and I'm pretty sure they're allowed to restrict who they want parked next to it. I still don't understand the sort of "entitlement" people seem to belive they have a right to about parking around the station. They asked for the restriction because they were sick of people blocking traffic into and out of thier base, which I can completely understand.

Parking fees??? What else will the abusive government of Liberty do? So much for "Liberty"....

Where does the power and authority of enforce parking fees comes from? I would like to see the piece of legislation granting these authority. I believe this fees are illegal. Isn't the space around a base within the control of that base?

I also would like to hear what IC has to say officially about the subject. No government official/entity should concern itself With IC or any other coorporation capital gains unless blatant corruption is a foot. Is that what we are witnessing? Liberty corruption?

Subject - Parking

Good day,

I understand there is some harsh feelings over this topic and I believe I may have a possible solution. If you would like to park on Newark Station, Interspace would be happy to install an outdoor parking area with it's own Sunbucks. However due to the harsh economic climate we will need your help raising the necessary funds to complete the project. If you can raise One Billion credits, that should be enough to fund the project and we will ask the LPI to halt parking enforcement until it is completed.

Gracias Mr. Drake for your prompt respond. That clears the subject for me. I think that it would have been a better public relations practice to make an official announcement before reaching for the goons but Your announcement is enough for me.

Gracias again

This is Saber Nyoki,

I am here just to state my opinion, and propose a cheaper solution.

As engineer, I have to say that structurally, Newark is not designed to function as parking place, just take a look at its structure... *Nyoki shows a little holographic image of the station*
NeuralNet Link 1 -> Newark Station Image
As you can notice, it only has 4 docking bays, (which shouldn't be blocked), and 12 mooring points.

That's thought for fast commercial transport mooring. That means, mooring, unloading and launching again.
There's no real place to park...

But, that doesn't mean that there aren't stations that can be used with such a function, and I will use this other hologram to explain you.
NeuralNet Link 2 -> Baltimore Shipyard Image

Shipyards have drydocks, which are usually thought for parking ships during long times, for maintenance and construction. Each dry dock can hold around 4-6 ships... and they're thought to park for longer times, meaning that parking there won't cause much hassle, as the mooring points for trade are far from the drydocks. Now, you might think you won't have enough space to park, right? Well... We happen to have two shipyard-class bases at New York system, Baltimore and Norfolk. And parking in their drydocks won't hurt as much as parking in front of Newark...

*Nyoki crosses his arms*

What if we all simply reconsider parking locations? I'm pretty sure that there won't be much problem if the shipyards drydocks are used. I might consult this with the rest of the DSE high command about parking at Baltimore, but I think there shouldn't be much trouble with letting people park in our drydocks.

Let's see if this can be solved without issues...

Saber Nyoki, out.
