Cerberus range - Lucky Luke - 09-16-2012 Cerberus turrets reach ~20% further than the regular turrets on GB's and primaries on BS. On cruisers, they have less reach for some reason. Most cruiser turrets reach 1700 m, but cruiser cerbs only reach 1650 m. If they followed the others, it should be more like 2100 m. Does anyone have an explanation? Cerberus range - Miranda - 09-16-2012 Im guessing its because Cruisers have Light Mortars for long range. Cerberus range - Govedo13 - 09-16-2012 I also find it strange, I guess it have something to do with Cruisers able to dodge fire and keep cerbs pointed on Battleship from safe distance- let say 2-2,2k is quite possible for very good cruiser pilot if they had more range. Also due to the size of the ship Battlesihps cerbs/prims have like 20% less real range then the one given in the info-card because they are often mounted in the center of the ship together with the ship crosshair that is used to measure the range, you can simple have 100-300m more to the nose in the heavy battleship, cruisers are not that big. I guess that cruiser turrets can get other ranges anyway- 1200 for the solaris 1500 for the normal and 1800 for the cerb seems reasonable. GB turrets are totally messed up so you does not really need to look there. Cerberus range - Prysin - 09-16-2012 ' Wrote:Im guessing its because Cruisers have Light Mortars for long range. its not. It is because the incredibly high efficiency of the cerberus turrets. 2 turrets + a pulse or two is enough to kill a bs with ANY cruiser. The only requirement is that you keep dodging. Hitting a TS'ing cruiser at ~1.8k or so, that is dodging while spamming pulses and cerbs are -very- hard, given how slow primes are... Some heavy cruisers like RM, Bretonian Dessy, Gallic, Corsair and OC dessy is easy to hit, because they are incredibly slow/big, but if you go to the other end of the scale, you find that Thresher, Hel, Resepht, Scylla and Thantanos become practically impossible to hit often enough to take them down before they kill you/make you incapable of surviving to the next base. Cerb range is "low" to prevent ships like the aforementioned ones, and Battlecruisers from becoming unbeatable monsters. I cannot say this often enough, but cruisers are currently the most powerful shipclass avaliable to the general public. More Cerb range = either massive nerf to all cruisers, or epic unstoppable shipclass able to defeat any BS without resistance. @Govedo PLEASE DUDE. Cerberus range - Lucky Luke - 09-16-2012 I thought it must have something to do with balance. Thanks for your input. Cerberus range - sajjukar - 09-16-2012 The fact is: battleing a BS with cerbs is tricky and as i noticed the crossair only appears if you are closer than 1000m and this is universal to allmost all battleships. This is a drawback but as you 2 posted an dodging cruiser is impossible to hit with bs prims and other guns exept solaris and adding a bit more range to the cerb will make cruisers unbeatable at long range. EDIT: you can also hit a battleship at max range with cerbs but that will need some practice with blind shooting....chainfireing 2 cerbs does the trick in my case Cerberus range - Dashiell - 09-16-2012 Relocated Cerberus range - Hone - 09-16-2012 Id say cerbs should have more range. If this makes cruisers overpowered, make cerbs take more energy, or increase BS projectile speeds or something. Cerberus range - Mr_3ppozz - 09-16-2012 I'd say they did a whole lot on balancing.... so why go back to a OP/UP situation... It's fine as it is and if you're not fine with it... practice more |
