Ok, I want to start off by saying that I'm relatively new to the game Freelancer (1 month or so of playing). I am still a bit confused on what's in and out of role play.

Alright I have a Pirate ID, am working on getting a blank IFF, and have all Generic weapons on my gunboat. However, I am flying a corsiar gunboat, and I pirate in liberty. I haven't pirated with it yet, becuase I wanted to check if it was in RP here.

From my point of view, the corsairs are pirates, I have a pirate ID (not rouge or anything), and I use a generic weapon setup. So I thought I was in RP, but then some SA told me to change that immediately.

All I want to know is if it would be alright for a pirate in Liberty to fly the Corsair Gunboat, with, no affiliation with the corsairs besides me flying thier ship, which is a pirate one.

If I can't use this without breaking my RP, could someone tell me the extent of the Corsair's reach (ie. the Rouges stay in Liberty).

Thank you all for responding. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Corsairs - Omicrons (most of them), Bretonia (limited) and Rheinland (limited).

I don't recommend using a 'Sair GB in Liberty.

Taking NY as the example for Liberty, here's the criminals in it:

So Corsairs really ought not to be in Liberty, especially considering the alliance the Rogues/Outcasts/LH have together against the Corsairs.

Uh... yeah, what Magoo said...

The Corsairs have NO allies in Liberty. None. They have no influence there.

Well, he's just a generic pirate, not Corsair ID'd just shipped so keep that in mind, but yeah...

Well yes, but he's obviously gotten on the Corsairs' good side if he managed to get a lunchbox off of the Corsairs.

They are only nuetral with me, in fact the only faction friendly is the rouges and lane hackers. (Which I am working on getting them nuetral as well.) But, still, I probably am too OORP even as an independant pirate flyin' that ship.

mrthirsty, Adamantine is talking in-RP wise. Game-technicalities-wise, you can buy any ship as long as you're not hostile to them.. you could be at -5.9 bars with the Liberty Navy and still purchase a Dreadnought. However, in RP, capital ships aren't handed out to anyone.

+ There's no problem with an indie pirate flying that ship. Just remember where you need to stay and where your allegiance lies (e.g. don't attack other corsairs or allies of corsairs).

Corsair lunchbox?! C'mon lads, let's go beat 'im up 'n' steal all da food! *Liberators spring to life and launch beat up on the Corsair gunboat*

:DI suggest you don't bring any food near the LPI.

I would watch out if you do pirate in liberty. The local scally wags are not too friendly to those flying ships of the Corsair dogs!
