Pirate ID, and why I despise it now. - Altejago - 11-01-2012 Well, another day is down and again some retards are on the server. Perfect reason I do the adminey crap for my factions and not get in game. But you know, there comes times when I like to hang with some friends and actually play the game like it's meant to when suddenly: Some spehs injians show up! I turn on some Slayer and begin the inevitable slow death that usually becomes of me when I see these gits online. Anyway, my point for this thread is simple. Should I follow other OFFICIAL factions in getting the Pirate ID rephacked against the Liberty Rogues. We've had these certain spehs injians FR'5ed before but they either fix their reps or make new characters. I caught two undocking from Alcatraz after the FR5 was in place, and feel this just isn't enough anymore. So, I want to consult the community that isn't spehs injians about whether I should follow through with a rep hack so morons like them stop using our bases. It's bad enough they fly out of range and F1 to log better ships to combat you with and end up on site in less than 5-10 minutes, let alone watching them come from our bases and pew us. I have two pirate ID'd characters that use Rogue bases, but I am happy to sacrifice them for want of beating the wankers. After all, unless you're on the exemption list, pirate ID'd ships get shot so it seems only logical to look deeply into rep hacks. Thoughts? Trolls, wankers and CGS can stay the hell out. This thread is being monitored. RE: Pirate ID, and why I despise it now. - aerelm - 11-02-2012 I guess the real question is: Are you really suggesting that an ID rep hack should ruin the fun for the good chunk of our community, only because of - the way you've put it - "some retards"? Also, isn't going around a FR5 and dockin with the same base you've been made hostile to a 6.10 violation in the first place? RE: Pirate ID, and why I despise it now. - Altejago - 11-02-2012 Yes, that is exactly how I am putting it. It is always the case of the minority screwing it up for the majority. Why should this be any different? I feel this will assist in decreasing the low activity of official factions and perhaps encourage players to stick with the lore factions instead of continued oorp offshoots. I've been in charge of a good chunk of Liberty for a while now, and am generally pretty tolerant of the lolwut pirates we get. I didn't follow the trend of rephacking pirate ID as I did want to see diversity in Liberty, but I am now regretting letting that happen as people blatantly abuse the game mechanics and the good will of others. So, it's either get pissed off by dimwits in OP gear for the area and deal with them as best I can, or I can simply use my influence to stop it happening and allow Rogues, Hackers and other assorted Lore IDs to actually be the dominant pirate groups in Liberty, not some crap and poorly built out-of-lore factions. I chose to deal with it and not get frustrated, but now I just can't help it. And now it is time to do something about it. As for the 6.10, yes you are right. But we're not around all the time to catch them, and my images I have are in a collective pile for a project I have coming up. RE: Pirate ID, and why I despise it now. - aerelm - 11-02-2012 There are 4 Junker bases in Liberty, and 3 Zoner bases in surrounding systems. From those 4 Junker bases, 2 are actually less than 5 minutes of cruise away from 4 different Rogue bases. So.. Rep hacking Pirate ID to Rogues or even every single unlawful group in Liberty won't help much in keeping the pirates out of the place, as they'll just use Junker/Zoner bases which won't really feel that big of a difference to them. Now, if the LR- was full hostile to every single indie pirate out there, it woulda been a different story, but seeing as there are various individuals who're neutral/friendly with LR- despite using Pirate IDs, requesting this rep ninja won't change a thing for - again, quoting yourself - those "retards", and will only make the life harder for those who've actually worked their way InRp closer to the LR- as they'll have to put up with a nonsense repninja put in only because of a mess made by certain group of players (ab)using the ID. RE: Pirate ID, and why I despise it now. - Sabru - 11-02-2012 As an independant pirate, and being on the exemption list, If this happened, how would it affect me? RE: Pirate ID, and why I despise it now. - aerelm - 11-02-2012 If this happens, your only options for being able to pirate in Liberty and also dock on Rogue bases would be:
Edit: Oops.. And why did I vote yes on the poll? RE: Pirate ID, and why I despise it now. - AshHill07 - 11-02-2012 I spose the question here is: Is it worth potentially loosing some of those independent opperators for the LR- to ensure that life for these people who are being complete dicks becomes more difficult? To be honest this is a question only the head guys in the LR- can answer. As for my opinion, I'm not giving it. I'm potentially bias. RE: Pirate ID, and why I despise it now. - Timbuktu - 11-02-2012 I got 2 questions. 1: What exactly do you mean with spehs injians? 2: Why should they not dock on Alcatraz? RE: Pirate ID, and why I despise it now. - Ursus - 11-02-2012 Probably wouldnt have much of a practical effect on anything except increase the tactical profile of Cochrane a little bit. edit I voted yes because alcatraz is like a transit hub for unlawfuls nowadays, it needs a lower profile in general Quote:1: What exactly do you mean with spehs injians? space indians |
