Hogosha School - kujiragari_hogosha - 11-02-2012

Greetings new recruits!

I am Mr. Iwao--leader of the l<ujiragari zoku.

Our zoku, the Kujiragari (whale hunting) Social Club, began as a modest effort to help the police patrol problem areas in and around Kyushu and New Tokyo and to restore the reputation of the Hogosha as protectors of the loyal innocents of Kusari.

Often gaijin criminals run free when the police were overtaxed by the sheer numbers of evil-doers ane we have been able on several occasions to stop them.

Additionally, we have taught even foreign traders to value good relations with us and Kusari and shown them the benefit of that by coming to their assistance when they have known to be respectful guests.

It is of course very expensive to conduct operations such as this and as we do not injure Kusari's economy or reputation with our actions, we have to develop creative means of finance as an organization.

It is true on rare occasions we have asked for small donations in the Taus but we have never done this as a routine and never against any of the great houses--it would be bad for relations. Instead, we have keyed on offering services that demonstrate our worth. Doing this has allowed us access to new markets in greatly expanded areas. You may have heard rumors that Rheinland shippers in Tau 29 have reported problems with Hogosha but it can be seen by our reputations to them that it cannot be proven to be us.

Recently we have been exploring and making contacts in Gallia. We still provide relief missions to those samurais in exile in Bretonia and to our Gaian partners but there are many difficulties in reaching deeper into Bretonia. Primary of these is the unmitigated hostility of Bretonian Mining and Metals and Borderworld Exports.

No matter how diligent we are not to offend these companies constantly alert the authorities to treat us as criminals--making it risky to even approach places such as New London or South Hampton. This also complicates our efforts to work easily with our trusted Corsair business partners.

So Gallia shows great promise. In tomorrow's class we will discuss the groups with which we must interact in Gallia and explain the speific challenges they present to us.

Greetings again. Today we will discuss the dynamics of our relations with the Gallics.

Their government at present has no major issues with us--and we intend as much as possible--to keep it that way. There are many legal commodities for trading--cryocubes being one of the primary ones--and as traders we could spend much time discussing various routes and cargo...but we are Hogosha and not "traders".

There is one unique commodity in Gallia of great interest. At present it is no more profitable than legal cargos but that may change in time--so it is important for us to be positioned. This cargo requires our peaceful negotiation with one of the many groups that makes up the Gallic highwaymen, the "Brigands". We have spent much time and effort ensuring our relations with them are cordial and professional and as a result they will "take our money" and let us dock their bases when doing so. As a precaution, we have also made overtures to the other criminal groups: the Union Corse (who hate the Junkers as much as we do), The Maquis (who often trade and patrol with Brigands), the Council (a political necessity it seems to "get along"). But is is the Brigands with whom our most covetous deals are made.

Much like the Gallic's police, these Brigands are an honorless folk--only seeing value in money. This is of course something we can accommodate and so we do.

Our partners in this venture wiill be Corsairs whom we all know well. Additionally, an "outside party" is also interested in sampling these goods and will provide us a unique form of access to their location.

The development of this new business venture will require we spend much time outside Kusari proper--but we are convinced that this investment will be well worth it!

This is all for today.
