Hey guys,

I received a PM from Chili, your leader, recently about your "faction" and its role in Bretonia.

You mentioned that you were new, and I wanted to introduce you guys to the public eye, since my advice and RP is not the end-all, be-all. I hope you don't mind me posting here, since myself and the other Bret faction leader are extremely busy at the moment, and are probably unable to help you directly. I'd like other Bretonians to lend their ideas and opinions regarding RP and other logistical features.

Essentially, we have something along the lines of a BPS, only it never was fully implemented.

From what I could ascertain from your PM, the RP seemed a little...iffy.

Again, I'm not the end-all, be-all, but here at discovery, the House factions do follow the laid-out RP pretty stolidly. Some people disagree with this policy, but the majorit here seem to like it. Since you are new, lack of knowledge of this is perfectly fine. We were all once new, and trust me, many of my RPs were extremely off.

I want this to be a helpful, insightful discussion, not a flamefest. I expect patience, understanding, and maturity from both sides. If I see flames here, you won't like the results.

Thanks,
elgato

Yeah BPS, we want to hear from you.

We got ideas about what you may be able to do, lets talk.

firstly. what does BPS stand for?

secondly. welcome to discovery!!:D

BPS - Bretonians, Contribute and Help - Chili - 06-02-2008

Hi guys.

Well firstly BPS stands for 'Bretonia Protection Squadron'.

I know you may think our RP is iffy but if you read into it and have a look on our site http://www.bps-clan.com especially look at our clan information database and clan story and it should be pretty clear what we are.

It is this simple, a special forces (or elite) unit within the BAF. Now this does not mean we follow direct orders from other BAF commanders (or current discovery RP factions), nor does it mean we just please ourselves.

What I think the only problem here is that there are two clan established QCRO and BPA and there could be a feeling that we are stepping on other peoples toes, or trying to replace existing clans.

Of course we are not, and do not want to. All we want is a chance to get established a little, and get to know the server better, before we make a formal faction creation thread, which will come soon enough.

I am confident we can come to an amicable agreement with the existing clans where we can keep our identity, and at the same time integrate with the server role play and storyline.

This is a good healthy dialogue. Keep it this way.

As a bystander for some time I can give you an advice. Mold yourselves after the Disco. Do not try to mold disco to your image. Since it won't happen even though there has been imported clans who have tried that.

The best advice I can give you is to join an existing faction as a second character. Put BPS on hold (or for a very low profile atleast) for, say a month, while you enter existing factions to learn the ropes. This would give you more perspective and vision of BPS place in Disco.

There's always place for people who can be civil and nice and follow the rules. Pay attention to especially to the rules and you'll be a welcome addition to disco.

Just a wee question...

Quote:
The three main objectives of the BPS are to combat any alien invasions, protect civilians from pirates and help in reducing the smuggling of illegal goods.

Does this mean that your ZOI is Bretonia? Like the BPA? Or are you going to be able to run off to distant lands?
Also, you might want to keep in mind the happenings here on disco... Denying the Kusari/Bretonia war and not helping other Bret forces might seem a bit... Off. As can be seen by the reports in the BPA and QCx dumps.

But anyway, huzzah!
More people to defend Bretonia!:D

The BPA polices Bretonia and deals with smuggling, and the approach the BPA takes is quite tolerant when compared with other Houses.
The QCRF is the Bretonian Armed Forces - we are supposed to be fighting against Kusari, but are obliged a great deal recently to defend the southern systems from OPG and Harvester incursions.

I think it is in dealing with the security of Cambridge and the pirate presence in the Omegas that an opportunity exists. I would suggest redefining and narrowing your objectives for the purpose of the RP server.

I think it might be an idea to post in these forums rather than redirecting people to your site. The onus is on you to introduce yourselves.

That certainly needs to be clarified.

Yes as Jovial was saying, your ZOI should not strech to far as some clans have had the problem of getting started because their ZOI was way out of their own space, you should try and confine it to Bretonic space and its surronding systems Tau's Omega 3 places like that. For instence for anit smuggling i would recommend keeping an eye out in Dublin/Leed (by the Magellen JH) for Conterfit software and Deuterium coming from Omega 49 to Kasuri space, as for pitrating bases: LD-14 and Stoke mining base also in the Leeds system is very good for that by the Eco pirates who pirate the taders there and again Omega 3 ( mainly Corsairs in that area).
As for the alien threat, that would take you out of Bretonic ZOI to go to them but if they attack us its fair game.

Hope this helps you in what your trying to do here and hope that all goes well for you.

Hello BPS.

Firstly, thanks for coming here, we just had a recent... inconvenience with another unnoficial faction that didn't end too well.
With that still in mind, I do think it would be best if you did not play on any of your BPS characters until you have learned the ropes of Disco, met the members, played with it's characters and learned what's going on. This isn't just any other FL server, this is the FL server. (opinion, but we're the most popular and the best I think).

So yeah, hold off on BPS now and just fly around and learn things first.

Welcome to Disco!

Welcome to Discovery BPS. I would humbly advise your members to join the QCR of the Armed Forces and spend a trial period there before submitting your own group. In that period you will have the chance to generate the required amount of funds for a faction creation request and also get used to how things roll here in Discovery.
