Empty systems, left it or delete it - Reptile - 12-17-2012 In game we have many systems. On your opinion which systems not need in game? For example: we have route which almost not using in game and i think it not need: Texas > Minnesota > Quebec > New Hampshire > Bremen > Hamburg In this way we not need (as i think) 2 systems Quebec and New Hampshire. They almost not using and empty. More systems > more flying > more travel only for finding player for some game\role > boring > people not want fly. People want action and some activity in systems. So i think better delete some systems for more compact and interesting game P.S.i sow it in Crossfire.4 sectors,a lot of systems and activity 15-20 players at max. This is not interesting. For looking 1 player - you must fly at min 10 systems. Write here, which system, you think, will be better to cut out from Disco and why. Thanks. RE: Empty systems, left it or delete it - Veygaar - 12-17-2012 ![]() RE: Empty systems, left it or delete it - Reptile - 12-17-2012 But Gallia which was isolated by mines by many years somehow build their fleet and tradelines all this years.---HOW? if they was in full isolation. For this we can close eyes...but for cutting systems - we cannot. For examples Quebec and New Hampshire was lost in Ion storm and part of fleets was lost; or this systems was classified; or was failure to carry them develop. Im talking not about HOW TO DO,im talking do we have systems WHICH WE NOT NEED AND NOT USING. RE: Empty systems, left it or delete it - Unseelie - 12-17-2012 cutting systems is a major problem. Due to...reasons having to do with...I dunno, tech issues. But arguably, you can change their connections and effecctively remove them from the mod... RE: Empty systems, left it or delete it - Anaximander - 12-17-2012 I know systems can't be deleted, but how about jumpholes/jumpgates? Yes it could cause some problems if people blind-jump, but few do that. Here's my not particularly disco lore-friendly list: Cut: Picardie Anjou Touraine Auvergne Inverness Omicron-82 Merge: Provence/Corse Savoie/Franche Comte Faroe/Lewis Tau-29/Tau-31 Poole/Salibsury Humboldt/Kansas Magellan/Cortez Alberta/Yukon Kepler/Galileo Quebec/New Hampshire Bremen/Braunschweig Omega-49/Omega-50 Omicron-91/93/96/94 Lambda/Eta Rishiri/Nagano Omicron-80/81 Tau-39/44/42 Ideally I would like more systems removed, but some of the House Core Systems have a lot of RP and stuff attached to them, so I think if they got deleted it would leave a void. Unless it could be part of a cataclysmic plotline which I would be all for. RE: Empty systems, left it or delete it - Veygaar - 12-17-2012 To be honest, the OP has good intentions, the idea of removing some systems via taking away their Jump Holes/Gates is one I'd support. I agree. As Echo keeps saying, removing systems apparently messes up characters who were docked in that system or something. But as everyone else keeps saying, why not just remove the holes that jump in there? Also is it possible to merge systems? Cos a LOT of systems could do with being merged. Basically id get rid of almost every non-vanilla system, except a few of the most important Gallic ones, then merge the nearby systems that dont have much activity. RE: Empty systems, left it or delete it - Echo 7-7 - 12-17-2012 A number of redundant systems are becoming dead ends, so that travel through them becomes useless. In particular, the Gallic guard/home systems. Technically speaking, systems can't be truly deleted because characters store info about places they've visited. When the character tries to access data pertaining to a certain IDS number, which has now been wiped, the game crashes. This can only be resolved by a total character wipe (for best long term results, if you want to delete systems). What you can do, however, is close off a system entirely by deleting the jump holes or gates; these IDS numbers can be repurposed into new bases in other systems. In summary, the Devs are aware that there are too many systems, and some systems of substandard quality. While deleting them outright is difficult for a number of reasons, the act of streamlining travel and activity into the more useful or popular hubs is intended to alleviate the issue of players being too spread out. RE: Empty systems, left it or delete it - Omicron - 12-17-2012 Empty systems are empty - they do not have anything to do with activity itself since they're not taking players from hub systems such as NY. RE: Empty systems, left it or delete it - pitockm - 12-17-2012 yeah...also blind jump can be fixed....fl hook tricks? |
