Hya all, New pilot here. - Wushu - 06-06-2008 Hya everyone...Just a quick post to introduce myself to the server really, and to pick up any must do tips, and advice. Not really been playing discovery for long, and only just started playing it online and so far, inbetween changing my babys nappies and feeding him, I am loving it. Cya you all out there, Starspike. Hya all, New pilot here. - n00bl3t - 06-06-2008 Join a faction. Hya all, New pilot here. - Linkus - 06-06-2008 As you can see, n00bl3t fully support independant civilians. He does have a point though. Factions can give you the support and skills that you need. Of course nothing wrong with going independant. I'd say take a look around, explore a bit. I spent 20 or so hours touring Sirius in one of my chars when I first came to Disco simply because I hadn't played vanilla FL for so so long and wanted to see the Disco changes. If you want TEH BIG BUCKS, go trading. Mine silver in colerado and grab a freighter. Then do some trade runs and work your way up. Quite boring but eventually gets you the cash. 10 or so million per run in an Advanced Train is quite nice and can definately support your characters. In the end, do what you enjoy but make sure you stay within the server rules. Hya all, New pilot here. - Jihadjoe - 06-06-2008 Well that was a bit short N00blet. Hello Wushu, welcome to disco. I think that everyone should follow the links on this thread (cept for those regarding the PvP server as that is down now) for practical type stuff on making you life here easier and also follow all the links on this thread to help you integrate smoothly with the whole thing we have going on here. Both are enourmously helpfull ohhh yeh, and I second what N00blet says (even though it was a bit short) Hya all, New pilot here. - Etaphreven - 06-06-2008 Welcome to Discovery! ^_^ Hya all, New pilot here. - n00bl3t - 06-06-2008 ' Wrote:As you can see, n00bl3t fully support independant civilians. Someone has to. But I'm not the only one, as you can see many on the server without tags/other grouping things. Factions can also deny you access to certain crafts. If you want any chance of "discovering" all content for yourself you must join a faction or be continually KOS for usually inane barely-RP reasons. Don't argue with anyone's point of view. Don't have your own point of view. Especially those with 3000+ posts. Conform to everyone's RP. This is very hard, and it usually requires lengthy stories on the forum. Don't be creative. Basically read what everyone else has written and churn it out with different words and a different character name. When in doubt, take a screenshot. Really. This is very important. Read the rules twice and then again. Enjoy. Edit: ' Wrote:Well that was a bit short N00blet. Factions do restrict certain ships yes, for reasons of both realism and solid roleplay. Everyone is entitled to their point of veiw and is perfectly welcome to expess it, provided they don't get antagonistic about it. The reason I say join a faction is it is a great way to learn the roleplay ropes. It helps with your integration into what is an extremely complicated and in depth roleplay environment.
