Voyages of the Celestra - Armageddon - 06-07-2008 Freight Captain Meek looks at his workhorse, The celestra standing at its moor in minato. The 15 year old transport had scratches and dents on every surface. At certain points along its hull, clearly visible near the engines were scorch marks where the ship had been hit by weapons fire. The old transport turrets were inefficient and the ship barely had the range to fly through kusari space without a tankoff due to two of the 3 h-fuel tanks being open to space. To make things even worse the ship only had 1/5 th the cargo bay of the most up to date vessels in the fleet. The Ship was now designated under the class of Light Transporter, which relegated it to having no fighter escort. The new captain was not too pleased about the ship they had put him in, he knew that the money was tight in the region of transport craft as currently the Colonial Remnant was building a new warship, however when he looked at the cigarrette butts the previous captain had put out on the floor he could not help but feel quite repulsed. The ship left spacedock with the engines creaking as they were shunted with the taps fully open. The ship had not been assigned a specific job. It was just told to make profit for itself. He had heard that there were profits in the niobium trade so he flew down to tau 37 to take a look. The ship maxing out at around 45m/s. The cruise drive was not operational due to damage to the control circuits. The ship Left the falkland base on schedule with its flight plan however the ship started to faul behind as the weight of the metal in its cargo hold meant the ships top speed had been reduced to a little over 37m/s. Even worse outcasts and pirates pounded the ship throughout its journey, rupturing the power to engine 3. After several hours of flying through the hell hole that was the tau's the ship successfully made it into Kusari space. It was planned that the ship would tank off at the moor in kyushu. The rest of the journey was made in good time and after several days of travel, mostly with the ships engines cut to conserve fuel, the ship made it to dresden. Voyages of the Celestra - Armageddon - 06-09-2008 The Celestra docked at the Ring in New Berlin, the equipment dealer by the strange name to the bretonian bred man Mr Smitt. "I can do you a deal on the cruise control regulators but those new H-Fuel tanks will cost you quite a bit. I normally stcok the train tanks here, as for those weak defences i can get you a more powerful powerplant and transport turrets." Mr Smitt looked around the old ship, at the countless burns, dents, scratches it had accumalated over the years. Some had faded almost to inexistence, unlike the current freighter ships in had been designed to be worked on in space, as it the time of its production the colonials did not have a fully operational shipyard and so, it was built on minato harbour. Harry Meek looked towards him "how much?" he asked the honest looking ship dealer. Mr Smitt heaved a sigh as he looked around the old craft. "I can do you it fro 500 grand" he replied, "Thats as low as i can go im afraid." The captain heaved a sigh 500,000 was almost all of his credits. He simply said "deal." They shook hands to seal the deal and he left. I would have a bit of free time on New berlin while his ship was getting repaired. He looked forward to his Impromptu break. Voyages of the Celestra - Armageddon - 06-16-2008 the celestra continued to assist falkland base in the movement of cargo for several weeks, in that time he had heard of a shipyard in the newcastle system where he could get his Transport "extended". Which would double his capacity. He made the money for the upgrade and set off for newcastle. Hoping it included a retrofitting of the bridge as the stuffing of the chairs was starting to pull out. He docked at the station where he met an unkept bear of a man, holes were in his clothes as he led him to his "gaffer" not being from bretonia he did not understand some of the bretonian slang thrown about. "Eh up boss we got anoth'r one 'ere" said the unkept man. "send him in." came a reply over the communications system. He was shown to a door and led inside. The man who greeted him wore a grey suit, and was currently looking over plans of the mk IV transport. the model the celestra belonged to. "Take a seat." he said in a warm manner, Meek found this manner quite unnerving after several months working alone on the celestra. "Lets have a look at this then, mk III H-Drive, an ealy cruise model i see. Should be wearing on a bit. CV 10 Transport turrets of which there are 5..." he continued to mutter to himself as he read through the information on the Celestra. After about 10 minuites the man stopped muttering. "What do you think we can do to it?" Meek asked. The older man looked up at him for a moment, then replied slowly "depends how much you have to spend my boy" he paused just long enough to pull out the plans for a different craft from a filing cabinet. "for 10 million credits," he showed Meek the plans "you can get one of these mk X transports, twice the cargo bay, much more efficient engines. Plus an upgraded powerplant, a new bridge is also included in the design." he stopped suddenly again, looking at the young Captain for a response. He simply replied "do it, you will get your money." The then walked out of the small office to look for the nearest bar, hoping it stocked Liberty Ale. |
