Wiki Questions and guidelines. - chovynz - 06-09-2008 Hi all I have a number of questions that are floating around regarding the WIKI. It's coming along but there are still tonnes of stuff to add, so get in there! Go on! You know you want to! If you have any questions regarding the wiki formatting and content, please post them here. This thread could be a guide to editing or content manipulation, once we have lots of answers. Questions & Answers section. Igiss if you could answer these that would be great. Q.1. Which format should we use for ships "Places Sold": Planet California Minor, California System, Liberty Space -OR- Planet California Minor, California System, Liberty -OR- California Minor, California, Liberty This one: California Minor, California, Liberty Q.1.b. Should we include the Owners name? Planet Baden Baden, Stuttgart System, Orbital Spa and Cruise, Rheinland No Q.1.c. Should we do the same for Order/Corsair etc places? Planet Kurile, Sigma 17, Samura Space Battleship Apophis, Omicron 100, Order Space Tripoli Shipyard, Omicron Gamma, Corsairs No Q.2 Should we remove entries on the ship stats that have nothing? Guns: 0 <--Remove this entire line? Turrets: 8 Leave the zero. Q.2.b. The price for some ships is different in Datastorm to FL Stats. Which one is more accurate? Go for the higher price? Please use readme information whenever possible. Q.3. Character Bios. Should they go on the Wiki? or the Forum? or Both? My feeling is the forum. Forum > Wiki in terms of fluid and up to date content. I'm happy either way. Just wanted a clear answer seen by all. Up to you. Q.4. Weapons. Should we be using the term Weapons & Turrets or Guns & Turrets? Ingame the weapons are called Guns. But everything so far on the Wiki is called Weapons. Guns & Turrets. Weapon is a more generic term. Q.5. Should Armor be called Hull on the Wiki ship stats? Ingame it is Armor even though they are talking about Hull. "Armour" as opposed to Shields. Better use Hull. Q.6. Should we correct Infocard data with correct spelling and grammar or just Copy and paste? Copy-Paste-Report the mistake to infocard errors thread. Q.6.b If the above is yes, what do you want to do with FL infocard corrections? While we have been adding and editing content to the Wiki, some very glaring mistakes have shown up in the infocard data. On the Wiki we have corrected many of the infocard data with grammar and spelling. You stated on the infocard Subforum that you only wanted Disco infocards, not Vanilla, but many of the mistakes are in Vanilla infocards. How do you want us to handle these? Post them on the infocard Subforum? Correct them on the Wiki but not tell you? Post a summary in the infocard errors thread. Or make a new page in Wiki for it, and post link in that thread. Thanks for your time on this Igiss. Wiki Questions and guidelines. - Igiss - 06-09-2008 Replied by editing your post. Wiki Questions and guidelines. - chovynz - 06-10-2008 Thanks for responding. Can I get some clarification on this one? ---- Q.2.b. The price for some ships is different in Datastorm to FL Stats. Which one is more accurate? Go for the higher price? "Please use readme information whenever possible." ----- I'll take the Heavy Tanker as an example. In the Readme (and also FL Stats) the price is: 96,000,000 In Datastorm (and ingame I presume) the price is: 96,614,750 Should I round that number up to 97,000,000? Or leave it as the what the readme says? Half a million isn't much at that level, but this kind of discrepancy goes all the way down to CSV and below - and at that level the cost difference is a lot for new people. 162,500 - FL stats, Readme 186,670 - Datastorm, ingame In this case should I round up to 187,000? I'm trying to head off the frustration that I forsee (and have experienced myself) from new players who look up the wiki, save up to that amount then dont have enough to buy it.
