Rorry: Chronicle - Veygaar - 01-30-2013 ![]() No one just starts giggling and wearing black and signs up to become a villainous monster. How the hell do you think it happens? It happens to people. Just people. They make questionable choices, for what might be very good reasons. They make choice after choice, and none of them start off slaughtering roomfuls of saints, or murdering hundreds of children. But it adds up. And then one day they look around and realize that they're so far over the line that they can't remember where it was. ~ Derived from Cold Days "WAKE UP" "WAKE UP!" "WAKE UP DAMNIT!" ........
"John" "You're not done..." ..................... The fact is that we have no way of knowing if the person who we think we are is at the core of our being. Are you a decent human with the potential to someday become and evil monster, or are you an evil monster that thinks it's a decent human? The lies we tell other people are nothing to the lies we tell ourselves. ~ Death Bringer John "Rorry" woke suddenly from his slumber. His head felt as if it has just been released from a vice. The NOX took time to wear off. His vision was cloudy. With his hands he gathered he was inside the cockpit of his ship. "Location?" "A fork in the road." "Alan... Take us back to Rheinland." "Why?" "What? Because I said to." "NO" "The hell is wrong with you?!" "Is it home?" "Rheinland?" "Yes" "No... Brother we have no home." "WHY NOT?" Rorry looked down, his eye's shut... He thought back to the day he saw his mother's tears on the com link in the moments before her vessel was ripped apart by the vacuum of space. He could see himself, only a child, tears streaming down his face, unable to make a sound. He just... stood there, as his own father escaped into the distance of space, horrified. ...His gaze turned upward, his voice defeated. "It... it was taken from us." "John..." "...fall not into despair." "Why do we live on? Why do I carry on attempting to reach greatness... when all that is left for great men is the fall at the end of the line. I have raised an army... and now stand abandoned." "You cannot lose hope." "John, let me... show you something." Rorry's eyes glazed over, his mind now invaded by the thought's of his own blood brother. Every sense was increased to unimaginable heights. His eye's saw all, sweeping through space at impossible speeds, yet no detail was missed in his vision. Civilians, criminals, and military men and women moving about in their day to day business. A man worrying over paperwork, a child crying alone in the streets, a murderer running away from the scene of a crime. Passing by every conceivable landmark in the cosmos. From long forgotten derelicts of races past, to black holes consuming entire systems. Until at last, their journey came to a halt, hovering above an image of a planet on fire, and the torn wreckage of an entire fleet, strewn across a red horizon of deep space, stretching as far as any man's eye could see. A Corsair fleet, in ashes, their homeworld smoldering in ruin... ...Rorry turned in all directions, the carnage of a nation utterly undone lay before him... "Rise..." "Rise up my brother" "...for I understand." "I KNOW what you KNOW..." "...I FEEL as you FEEL!" "You have been abandoned by all around you." "But there is one who REMAINS with you!" "The age of the Red King is not at an end..." "...NO. Is has only just begun!" RE: Rorry: Chronicle - Veygaar - 01-31-2013 ![]() “Heroes don't exist. And if they did, I wouldn't be one of them.” ~ Everneath "Alright..." "Do what must be done." "The job must be completed." Rorry looked up in surprise. He was in a hanger, one long forgotten by technicians and mechanics. Mold and slim had crept up the walls over time. The air was moist, even foggy. It was a surprise one was even able to breath. He turned around to face a man and a woman tied and gagged to separate poles. The man was obviously a Military Officer. The woman... most likely a civilian. "Let me help you remember." A flash of visions flooded his brain. A child screaming, the man bloodied, the woman shot, the man and woman both dragged into Rorry's cargo hold, crammed together, the child weeping as she was left behind. For a moment his only thought was "why?" But just as the thought came in, the answer was already known to him... He had unfinished business to conduct. He walked toward the woman, a pair of pliers in hand. "Now... where were we!" RE: Rorry: Chronicle - Veygaar - 02-02-2013 ![]() “Sometimes... we fall so far we forget what it even means to have a heart.” ![]() Rorry smiled as he heard the captain speak. The man had kept to his word. After his release he was to make his way back to Liberty and jump Cody to Rorry's location without armaments for defense, and he had done so. Sure, the man was bound to face court martial, among other things, but Rorry knew this man would face anything if his loved one's life was on the line. ![]() Rorry among the other Renegades turned now to the man to which he actually held interested in: William Fredrick Cody. They had crossed paths before, but never face to face. While Morbius unloaded the goods on-board Cody's vessel, and Vispilio distracted nearby Bounty Hunters, Rorry was able to make a trade of his own with the famous Equipment Dealer of Norfolk. In exchange for his life... Cody would shut down the Bounty Board posting against the Renegades. A long time hassle for the group. At the end of the day it was a success for the newly reorganized "Renegade." A great lesson learned to Rorry: Through his cooperation, not through his direction, would they ever find true success. He was no mastermind, but together, the Renegades could do great things. RE: Rorry: Chronicle - Veygaar - 02-11-2013 ![]() “It is a man's own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways.” ~ Buddha "Now... explain to me, why you have returned?" A broken down Officer Adam Hadley stood before Rorry. He was the man who had orchestrated the jump, under coercion, that had brought Cody to the Renegades. His words were desperate. "I cannot go back. I will surely be executed and my men punished to the full extent of the law. My... my wife and child will live in shame." The predicament to which the officer found himself in was one that the Renegades had planned for. Though for a short time it was worried that his unduly actions would go unnoticed by the house of Liberty. All doubt was removed as the man now stood before them. Rorry chose his words carefully. "So you return to those who put you in your situation. Why?" The officer looked down, speechless. Rorry stood up, walking toward the man in the tattered uniform. "I'll tell you why." He put his hand over his heart. "Because I am the only man you can now trust. I kept my word, your wife is safe is she not?" The man nodded, looking up to make eye contact with Rorry. "And you can keep trusting me. I and the men here with me, we hold true to our word. So when I say that we can protect and provide for you and your kind, I mean it. When I say that with us you will never be abandoned as you were with the Liberty Navy, you can believe me. When I say that, with us, your greatest days are ahead of you, there should be no doubt in your mind." The officer looked up, his face confused. "But, why?" The hand of Rorry reached out to the shoulder of the bewildered man. "Adam, because we understand." --- Covered deep within the clouds of Sigma 13. A naval vessel of immense enormity floated motionless. A Liberty Assault Carrier, weaponless, but by no means powerless. Small vessels buzzed about it's exterior, administering scrap repairs for future operations under Renegade control... |
