Police is not helping - BloodTree - 02-02-2013

Is it possible change roles of ID?
I see that police/military of any faction are really not helping any trader they more like busy with asking tax for i don`t know what and why. For me police are same as pirate but just in uniforms.

Well if pirate are attacking trade ships with bigger ship like destroyer, battlecruiser, Battleship or with large groups small ships no one is coming for help.

I wan`t to know why with BHG core ID large ships may not enter in systems containing jumpgate. I see that really wrong and unfair.

I think there is a lot of players with trade ships who feel that small ships can`t defend them against horde of pirate. And police is not helping at all.

RE: Police is not helping - Shizune - 02-02-2013

ill just say this then

the core is tasked with dealing with those in the Edge worlds, mainly Nomads and Order. the Core was mostly (if not all) destroyed back in .45 when they attacked minor then were attacked back by the Nomads. main reason for hte no JH thing to so halt any caps from entering house space or other wise used

RE: Police is not helping - BloodTree - 02-02-2013

It`s not about role play it`s about game play!

RE: Police is not helping - Sarawr!? - 02-02-2013

Many police factions have activity problems due to the prevalence and popularity of Military factions in whichever House, because people figure "We can do the same things and more, with bigger, better ships".

However, the Police faction players that -are- out there, at least in Liberty, do the best they can when they're around, to play the part of space police, be it through enforcing taxes and laws or through fending off pirates in small craft (or larger craft when they have military support).

The same goes for military faction players, they're doing the best job they can to get rid of pirates and unlawfuls, of course they don't always succeed in that, and they're not always around, because people do have things outside of Disco, to do.

As for when they are around, and traders still die...that's unfortunate and inconvenient, yes, but when Military or Police players are on, they may be doing something else at the time you call for help. They may be hunting pirates, terrorists or enemy military ships, in another system or section.

People playing Military or Police factions are faced with a number of challenges whenever they log into the game, so while you may need help, and they may not arrive in time to help you, you need to realize that you aren't the only person asking for their help.

The person above me is telling bullshit.

Police are pointless.

P.S. Hire BHG or Mercs to guard your ass.

This post is more like about:

Well if with Bounty Hunter Guild ID could use large ships it would be great.

We all know that police are pointless they don`t do escort.

Large trade ships need large escort ships.

Because inRP there aren't enough to spare on killing pirates while the Order and nomads are still around. Then there's the fact that house militaries would deny them access.

Well if with Bounty Hunter Guild ID could use large ships it would be great.

Why? Because you think it takes a big ship to counter a big ship?

We all know that police are pointless they don`t do escort.

That's mostly because they're not around in the first place or they're dealing with another whining trader.

Large trade ships need large escort ships.

Completely wrong, you aren't familiar enough with the game to be making threads like this.

RE: Police is not helping - Zynth - 02-02-2013

Because flying warships into other houses is a breach of sovereign house space. Imagine if a battleship from America decided to fly into Chinese waters. It's going to cause an uproar. Same logic, no large warships in house space.

I disagree with you about the concept of "It's not about roleplay, it's about gameplay" because in Discovery, roleplay is gameplay.

Anyway, even if you -had- a battleship defending you against a pirate cruiser. The pirate cruiser will just target your ship, instantly blow it up in less than 10 seconds and run away. Escorts don't work well, but they are good for one thing: scouting. Having your escort go ahead of you and warn of potential threats is by far the best way of avoiding piracy.

So yeah. Get a Freelancer, a Merc, or a bounty hunter to help scout out. They cost only about a million or two to hire and they'll keep you from being hit by pirates.

This sounds like its your fault, like you didnt read the house laws, and so tried to carry an illegal item, or cross a blockade. It can be confusing at first, just ask the policeman to explain the laws to you.

Remember police cant be everywhere at once, you need to tell them about pirates.

OK, from a gameplay perspective its to encourage the house factions, if the BHG can go everywhere, everyone will play them. From RP, its cos no military will allow foreign BSs inside.

Well if with Bounty Hunter Guild ID could use large ships it would be great.

Have you tried asking? It's BPAs policy to escort anyone who asks, and sometimes even insist on it. Clearly you dont KNOW.

Large trade ships need large escort ships.

Incorrect. A scout is the 2nd best escort, and the best is not very big.

RE: Police is not helping - Trollwut - 02-02-2013

Well, I for one play the role of a police faction and it's the BPA but whenever I am on patrol and active, I don't receive any transmissions or distress calls of trader or someone asking for help! I want to help people but they aren't really needing it and sometimes for some reason I am engaging a pirate and trying to clear him of the premises and a trader shows up NEAR ME asking for help about trade routes and other paths to something, blah, blah. Well I am not sure what's wrong with the traders that I am fighting a guy and too busy on it to talk but WHAT KIND OF HELP DO YOU WANT FROM US?

I try and do my best with escorts but you traders dont even ask that often and it's hard to make people understand about the laws! I give all of the people who actually reply to me with the given tax and fine for doing the wrong but I also tell them to go to the neural net and learn the laws...So far to whoever I have told to check it and read it, I have never again found them breaking the law and to levy a fine on him/her and gladly escort him/her to a border of bretonia and get back to my duties. I don't see why you don't actually ask for an escort if you think there's a danger....and please DO LOOK AT THE CHAT when someone might suddenly log a lawful ship to help you.
