I was just curious, since I saw a hunting party formed to chase a Rogue into the Badlands once upon a time, is it popular consensus for Navy, Police, and Bounty Hunters to chase Rogues and Outcasts into the Badlands.

My personal opinion is that Navy and Police shouldn't chase in there unless the target is very high priority (Like a BLS member or something), but if the Bounty Hunter is crazy enough, they can try and follow into the Badlands.

Why? I always thought that the Badlands were the last refuge for the Rogues, like the one place that was so awful that the Lawfuls wouldn't hunt them. I mean, the Rogues aren't there because the Dark Matter and Electrical Disturbances are pretty, but because it's the one place that sucks so much that the lawfuls wouldn't follow them.

But that's just my opinion, what do you guys think?

CAN they? Well of course they can. It's their space. Is it a good idea if your alone? Probably not...

I'd say after going 2-3k into the badlands most lawfuls should break off. The exception would be LSF I guess, since they're a little more determined at stopping crime than your average navy pilot or LPI donut muncher.

And -no- lawful capship should ever be in there (well, no unlawfuls over gunboat size should be either, IMO) - the place is supposed to be extremely hazardous to fly through.

Even from a gameplay standpoint, nothing over gunboat size will successfully pursue anyone through there anyway.

Any capship entering the badlands is asking to get raped. The giant.. er.. whachamacallits are deadly.

And yes, they can, but they are highly encouraged not to.

It's in NY, there's a Navy base in there, or rather was, I say it's fine.

Navy or LSF? SUre, I don't care. LPI? No, if you do, you'll be fired unless you're SWAT that has received a distress call from a Navy or trader that chased, or a Detective can chase. Other than that, regular LPI will not. WILL NOT.

Meh, it's no as black and white as the poll is, so I didn't vote.

They're annoying no matter what you fly. The autopilot isn't equipped to handle them. I'd say that lawfuls really shouldn't chase into the Badlands. It's a den of criminals, and it's poorly understood. The Navy really shouldn't go in there. It also allows unlawfuls a small haven in NY.

I once had five SA/LSFs on my tail as Guadana (an Outcast), and when I fled into the Badlands, they broke off after a bit. Good job for RPing that correctly, whoever it was.

EDIT: Hmm... actually, I think that one of those Navymen was you, captainpoo.
EDIT2: Come to think of it, I think you were the one who said that they should break off because I had fled into the Badlands!

My LPI was forced in there once (ordered by a superior), and he complained the entire way..

According to the rumours on the Missouri, the navy wont chase criminals in there, they just wait for them to come out, then kill them.

The deadlyness of the badlands should be evident, with the wreckage of patrol 65 or whatever...

Personally I can see small squads of fighters, going in around the tradelanes, but any further is asking for death. (The cut off point for navy would be about as far as that patrol got.)

I'd say that the cutoff point would probably be somewhat less than the destroyed patrol. I'd say that that patrol went too far into the cloud, and that's why they died.
