Eclipse as Civilian Pirate ID Bomber? - AceofSpades - 02-14-2013 I wanted to ask this question because I have now seen this a few times. I also fly a Civilian Bomber with the Pirate ID, and because of all the capships these days, I prefer to fly a Heavy one. However, until this time I have been flying a Waran, as it is the only "100% compatible" Civilian vessel. Unfortunately, as the only Heavy Bomber with only 2 slots, its a quite unpopular ship for decent reason, and I have noticed the ownership/tech chart shows a mere 10% power reduction for Pirates using Gallic Civilian ships. Also, I have now had the opportunity to run into quite a few Eclipse using the Pirate ID, and they haven't seemed to have any problems as far as being called out for an ooRP ship goes. However since I do fly around currently as "Voodoo Child" and enjoy the RP I've had for the most part, I dont want to soil it somewhat by using a ship that is generally regarded as ooRP. The character also has a Scimitar and PTrans, so I've tried to stick to the Freelance/Civilian Pirate role, but the Waran.... sucks for lack of a better word, so I thought I'd see if a more decent opportunity would be playable. RE: Eclipse as Civilian Pirate ID Bomber? - Veygaar - 02-14-2013 It's fine. Anyone calling it OORP is most likely upset that they had a bad encounter with it. Unless you specifically delve into the background of each player with one, then you can't just make broad assumptions such as "is it oorp or inrp." RE: Eclipse as Civilian Pirate ID Bomber? - Zayne Carrick - 02-14-2013 I think it's OK, if your pirate RP isn't against Gallia and everything gallic. RE: Eclipse as Civilian Pirate ID Bomber? - AceofSpades - 02-14-2013 Thanks for the advice, the Wiki and Tech Chart weren't too definitive so I wanted to ask around a bit quick before I leapt RE: Eclipse as Civilian Pirate ID Bomber? - Crackpunch - 02-14-2013 (02-14-2013, 08:22 AM)AceofSpades Wrote: but the Waran.... sucks for lack of a better word, so I thought I'd see if a more decent opportunity would be playable. Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa stahp. If the Barghest is the god of bombers, the Waran comes in as a demi-god. RE: Eclipse as Civilian Pirate ID Bomber? - Loken - 02-14-2013 This is perfectly acceptable. I even have one of these myself. RE: Eclipse as Civilian Pirate ID Bomber? - jammi - 02-14-2013 My opinion is that it's really only for use if your character background is Gallic, or has strong ties to Gallia. Of course, that's a self-regulatory thing and not something the admins would enforce. RE: Eclipse as Civilian Pirate ID Bomber? - Govedo13 - 02-14-2013 It is brick, it can mount cloak and use it, it have novas and nice core even at 90%.It functions like bomber not like VHF with SNAC. In short it is fine ship for the job. I definitely find all heavy bombers inRP and all light ones OORP both for balance and practical RP reasons. Also it is civilian ship, it means it is free game for all IDs. RE: Eclipse as Civilian Pirate ID Bomber? - Omicron - 02-15-2013 Personnaly would most likely use Eclipse, due to sheer firepower. However VHF sized Cougar is neat option indeed. Hard choice, depends on your intentions. For deep raids into Bretonia I would recommend Cougar for higher survivality rate. RE: Eclipse as Civilian Pirate ID Bomber? - Redon - 02-15-2013 There's no rules against it, you're allowed to use it as much as unlawful mercs seem to be allowed to use endless supplies of Bottlenose gunships. As you see, some players are perfectly fine with it, and there's many who use arguably unfitting technology because they can. Personally, I would still see it as ooRP, unless your character is of gallic origin and/or has a background that makes ownership and easy maintenance of such a ship plausible, as Jamie said. I doubt sirian unlawfuls produce gallic ships for your sirian pirate, and if you stay outside of gallic space the locals would probably have a much harder time repairing one or providing you with a replacement than if you were flying a ship they make or are familiar with. Consider that while you sit in your pod on Alcatraz waiting for an Eclipse express delivery from Berry. |
