Jump device help - Embercloud - 02-19-2013

Hi!

I have some questions about jumpdrives.

Is it worth equipping a transport with one?

What are the effects of jumping without a survey module?

How much fuel do they use? (nvm, found it on the wiki http://discoverygc.com/wiki/Jump_Devices)

Are they available for purchase in game? If so, where?

Though I've never used one, I might answer your questions:

For running it you'll need a large powercore like only (heavy) battleships have. So it won't work on transports. (Not sure about the different types of jumpdrives.)

When jumping without using jump cords (gained by a survey module), you'll probably do a "random jump" which might get you anywhere.

You can only produce/build them on player bases with a jumpdrive construction module. As alternative you could check the Open Market and buy on there (in roleplay).

Hope that helped.

Yes, thank you but I'd like more information on how the jumpdrive operates.

Do you set exactly where to enter in a system or is it tied to the jumphole, jumpgate system?
Perhaps there is another thread that goes through this in greater detail? I tried searching for it but all I found was market chatter.

See this post for more information on jump drives. There is information about each jump drive model under the "Jump Drive Factory" section.
