The 101st or the RoS? (Leaders please read!) - centauri5pirate - 06-17-2008

Greetings fellow Outcasts...

Allow me a moment to introduce myself. My name is Flagg, Sabre pilot and defender of the great Outcast Nation. I have a bit of a dilemma. After being an independent Outcast for some time now, I have flown with some exceptional pilots, elite members of the 101st, the RoS, and some fine Indie pilots flying everything from our Sabres up to Battleships. I have taken part in small skirmishes and recently, some large scale battles.
My problem is this... my decision to join the 101st or the RoS. In my opinion, both groups excel at what they do. Both have amazing, experienced pilots, and their RP is exemplary to say the least.
I have always wanted to join the 101st, the reason being, they seem to represent the elite of the elite when it comes to fighter pilots, the Special Forces of the Outcasts. On the other hand, the RoS seemed to fit my description more, with the freedom they seem to have over the 101st (going to distant systems, pirating, etc.).
I've tried pirating before, and to put it simply...it's not really for me. I believe my skills would be put to better use as a pilot as part of an offensive wing.
My main goals now are the defense of the Great Outcast Nation and our Homeworld, Malta. I want to be in a group where my skills as a fighter pilot can be used to their fullest extent. I wish to protect our airspace and bases, take place in assults on our enemies bases and homeworlds, and act as a spy, flying solo or with 1 other, sneaking into Corsair Space, to listen to their plans and relay back what I have learned.
I consider myself to be an excellent RP'er, and anyone I've flown with or talked to will back this statement up. RP is first and foremost for me here, I'm not afraid to face overwhelming odds, I'm not afraid to die fighting for what I believe in. The rules here are taken as Gospel to me, I have never cheated, been warned or sanctioned for any infractions.
My friend Thrakhath I'm sure you know too. Another excellent fighter pilot working for the Outcast nation. I've no doubt that whatever group I join, he will also. We spend most of our time here flying with each other, be it Outcast, trading, or otherwise.
We would excel at taking missions together as recon units or flanking support units during large scale battles.

I would like positive feedback from the leaders of both groups and also from the members of the respective groups to help me with my decision. Rest assured, whoever I choose (if they allow me membership), this will not affect my relationship with the other. I consider all of us as having the same goal... the protectors of our Great Outcast Nation. I will have the back of any Outcast pilot, aid them whenever needed, no matter the odds or their affiliation.

Please help me with my decision, I've given this a lot of time and thought, and I hope you will as well.

-Flagg, Outcast Sabre Pilot.

[RoS] Vengeance to Flagg and Thrakhath

"Brothers I have flown with both of you and I consider you my allies, brothers, and friends. It would be my honor to fly with you under the RoS banner.

You would both be more then welcome among the elite, the Reaper of Sirius."

Mwerte, thanks for the invite. It was a honor flying with you the other night. I was proud to fly on your wing, leading the spearhead directly into the heart of the Corsairs.
I believe myself to have a very strong, militaristic mindset, in RL and here. Silence and subterfuge are my strong points, and I strive to be the best at what I do. I hope someday to lead my own squadron of fighters, hitting the enemy where they least expect it...

I know that more than one Outcast must have an idea or two for me. C'mon guys...post away.

-Flagg

(// Mwerte, sending you a PM to further discuss my goals.)

Seems you've forgotten the Blue Lotus Syndicate! We're always looking for new pilots to bolster our fighting forces, even though our main goal and premise is economic. Rest assured that if you were to decide on us, you would be making a smart decision in growing one of the wealthiest groups in Sirius, as well as the on-going silent war for Cardamine.

Think on it.

Greetings Flagg! Rest assured that there is always room in the 101st fighter wing for both you and your compatriart. I must keep this brief, as we are on patrol at the moment, but let me assure you that it would be in your best interests to join us.

I've seen some great RP out of you, and I'd very much like to have you...the 101st is not actually as restrictive as one would believe, we have frequent excursions into Kusari and Rheinland to deal with our allies, hunt down targets who've given us trouble, or simply to sightsee because we're bored. We do not, however, pirate; we engage in something called Partial Inter-house Ransoming And Targeting Incessant but Non-vital Gnomes, or PIRATING, if you need to type faster. We don't do it nearly as often as the RoS, though; defense and enforcement are our things. We'd very much like to have you, so drop us an app if you vie for us. (Vie for us. Now.) We feel you'll excel in the Outcast Guard.

...okay, I'll stop trying to sound cool now. But join us anyways.

...we have a black hole!

AAARRRGGHH!!!!!!!! This definitely does not make my decision easier... I still need to give it much thought apparently.
Let me ask Eppy & Mwerte a question. Is it possible, without creating waves, to have a father and son (in-game, both would be me) each be in your seperate respective factions? This would solve a great deal of issues on my end. I admire both your factions and can't seem to decide between the two.
If so, I'll find a nice Maltese woman to give birth to my son, then stick him in my Human Growth Accelerator Pod I fashioned in my basement out of junk Sabre and Falcata parts, and within a few weeks he'll be ready to get his feet wet.
If this is unacceptable, which I understand is possible, I will go back to my confused thoughts and try to decide between the two. *Bangs head on keyboard*

Thanks for your input guys, and Eppy & Mwerte, I look foward to hearing from you about this.

-Flagg (confused Sabre pilot)

Well now we know your recruiting methods. Nice line.

Anyway back to the point. You join who you feal more at home with. We are who we are. The choice is on you no one else. You know how both clans work you said. Which one is best for you not us.

The 101st or the RoS? (Leaders please read!) - Lohingren - 06-18-2008

well as Archon of RoS i would be most happy to let you join our ranks.

we may not have the black hole but we have lots and lots of fun'ness.

nah seriously if your looking for a bit more action, little more on the excursion side.... and eventually more into covert operations/shadow operations we are where you wanna go, if you wanna sit about outcast space and defend, defend, defend 101st is the place to go. Both of us are good factions 101st have they're little ways of doing things RoS also.

the choice is yours my friend let it be a great one. neither is the wrong one

EDIT: and yes it is very much possible to create chars for each sides, there is a few out there that have done so already

The 101st or the RoS? (Leaders please read!) - Eppy - 06-18-2008

I don't see why you boys couldn't join both, I mean, there's nothing against it in the book, so why not? On the other hand, we have the black hole, so that makes us automatically better (forget executions by firing squad, we set them adrift in a spacesuit and wait till we stop recieving signals from the transponder...). Otherwise, Lohingren is dead wrong. The RoS go on a lot of excursions and take full advantage of what is technically the Outcast ZoI, which covers, let's face it, most of Sirius. The 101st is more domestic, certainly, but I wouldn't necessarily call us that much more defensive; we simply prefer to stay within the Omicrons, Taus, and the occasional excursion into Rheinland, Kusari and Bretonia. Our main goals are more purely Outcast than the RoS: Make sure the Cardamine gets where it needs to go, defend the homeland, and kill the Corsairs. The RoS have their own separate agenda I imagine Lohingren will make public come the release of 4.85. I mean, reading their history they're not even technically Outcasts, they're the descendants of a secret Alliance bioweapons project. So, do what suits you best, I suppose, this is our take on the Outcast military.

Things are becoming a tad clearer. I will now go in-game, take a gigantic hit of Cardi, and take my ship for a spin...... and see if an answer comes to me.
Should anyone decide to join me, I have a new batch just processed this morning from my parents field and am willing to share.
Perhaps do some recon....anyone?
