why do liberty players suck at rp? - Joleia - 02-28-2013
serious question. i was playing my pirate today and a player aligned with the navy npc faction came by my spot and jumped out. i didn't run in the hopes of getting an rp in or something, blah blah blah, usual banter what are you diong here... that sort of stuff and then my keyboard decided to screw up in a way in which i wasnt able to respond aptly. next thing i see is him sending a message saying he's gonna destroy my ship and before im even halfway through reading it he's already shooting at me. two things that i see here is liberty players
1. dont give people the proper time to respond to you engaging them
2. they dont care if you are having technicle issues or not.
i messaged the player that killed me and told him that i haad technicle issues with my keyboard at that moment and he said he didnt care to to get my arse out of liberty. this is something i noticed throughout all the liberty players. they are a bunch of arses that have no idea on how to roleplay properly. they are all just gun nuts.

Happnes both to lawfuls, and unlawfuls.
2. they dont care if you are having technicle issues or not.
How would they know if you are having an issue if you cannot type it to them?

Many RP fine in Liberty, but you also get most players starting in Liberty, so many have not learned as of yet.
Also highest player count in Liberty, and Disco as of late is full of griefers/trolls, and just pissed off players looking for a blue message for something someone did to them in past.

Liberty is where the majority of new players are. There are plenty of good RPers in Liberty, they're just harder to find amongst the new guys.

Yea don't judge us based on some lolwuts. Hey I got to deal with them too but try to make the most out of the situation and make them WANT to RP a little longer.

Unfortunately, given the number of people that play on the server, now and then you're going to run into people who don't behave in the way you might want them to. The best suggestion I can give is to laugh it off, and try a new system for a few hours, or take a break if it really is bothering you. Go for a walk. Make a sandwich. Watch a comedy. It's only a game, after all, and games exist to be fun.
I've alternately pirated and policed Liberty for three odd years now, and I can only recall one encounter on my pirate character that I couldn't talk or fly my way out of. Turned out to be the transport I was trying to pirate, shot my Bloodhound down without a word. In a way, it comes with the territory. There's some great RP-er's in Liberty, and I've had a fantastic time there. There's also some very inexperienced players. In general, there's a lot of everything. The odd plasma burst is the price we pay for the other encounters.
It all depends on your attitude. One doesn't fly in Liberty to de-stress, after all.

This is good news.
As a sidenote, calling out the entirety of a group of players that plays in one specific sector in this game, is -not- a good way to air your grievances, and, quite frankly, it's a good way to make people angry, which will cause this thread to spiral out of control into pointless bickering.
To say that everyone who plays in Liberty "sucks at roleplaying" is extremely ignorant, but also laughable. The system is the starting point for every new player to the server, but there are also many experienced players who choose to play in Liberty, who do not, in fact, "Suck at RP".
