COMM ID: Commander Jane Hartman TARGET ID: Vice Admiral Alan Polstari SUBJECT: Fleet Logistics Officer ENCRYPTION: Moderate PRIORITY: Low Sir,
Firstly, congratulations on your promotion. It's good to have a former enlisted in command. Hopefully you'll be able to talk some sense into HQ. Secondly, I'd like to make known my intention to resign as Commander of the Logistics Fleet. It was never my intention to apply for a position in the Logistics Corps when I enlisted, and I feel that my appointment was one of need rather then suitability. I'm a soldier, Sir. Always have been. I won't say that flying transports hasn't had its upsides, but I don't feel its where I belong in the Fleet. That said, if Command feels that I should remain in the position, I can accept that. The needs of the Fleet come first. However, it's my opinion that that would be a mistake. Recent events, topped by the fracas that occurred at LIS, have shown that there are individuals both more willing and able then I am to take on the responsibilities of the position. Both Commander Clarke and I were former Marines. Perhaps a purely Naval eye will be able to look at things in a different light. Commander Teerin has distinguished himself in that regard, and I feel he would be a more then able replacement. It ain't particularly fitting to have a freshly appointed Commander without an appointment now, is it? I don't intend to sit here on my laurels. Echo Lake would remain at the disposal of Logistics Command for as long as both it and I are needed. There are some issues in the distribution of responsibility and clarity of the chain of command in the Primary Fleet that I feel should be looked into. Basic housekeeping that would make running the show an easier ride for all concerned. That's a subject for another discussion though. For your consideration, Sir. Hartman, out. ****TRANSMISSION TERMINATED****

COMM ID: Vice Admiral Alan Polstari TARGET ID: Commander Jane Hartman SUBJECT: Fleet Logistics Officer ENCRYPTION: Medium PRIORITY: Low Greetings, Commander.
Thank you. I have to say, it's an odd position to be in considering where we both started. I still remember the days of you being a young Ensign and me being a fresh faced Warrant Officer patrolling the reaches of Liberty. I admit that I will miss the simplicity of those times, though the authority that comes with this rank means I will be better able to keep my home safe. Such is life.
Well, I suppose a certain part of me expected something like this. You are ever loyal to a fault at times, Hartman. Thank you for the loyalty you've shown in keeping your post despite your distaste for it; it's the mark of a true soldier. Your recommendation of Commander Teerin fits in well with my own observations of his effectiveness on the matter. I will discuss this with the rest of High Command and get back to you. As for the other matters, we can discuss those in person at some point in the near future. Vice Admiral Polstari, signing off. ****TRANSMISSION TERMINATED****
