Jump Drives - a Poll - Coin - 03-29-2013

If jumpdrives required a full load of fuel, but it was possible for all ship classes to jump, then we'd restore some player interaction.

traders: can jump across sirius, and then crawl back with high value cargo.
police: can jump into a system with a suspected smuggler
pirates/military: can send out scouts, and have rapid reaction force jump in

Jumptrading has removed many interactions. traders now have the ability to avoid 99% of the systems in sirius. the remaining slow traders now get hit by 99% of the pirates. A minor tweak to the characteristics of the JD (rather than deleting them) would ensure enhanced interaction.

please tell me what you think

RE: Jump Drives - a Poll - Haste - 03-29-2013

Problem: There is no actual poll.

Edit: Now there is.

None of the options appeal to me. It'd also make more sense to make it so you can only pick one. At least add an "Other" option. The last one appeals to me the most, but making it a solo activity is not necessarily part of that.

poll and OP edited. Hasty Hasteric is Hasty

Non of these options represent my view.

In my opinion Jump Trading can be a legitemate solution for some situations:

- Rapid Responce forces / Long Distance raids for military/intelligence factions only
- Supplying/ delivery of goods to bases far beyond your regular range(only if suitably RP'ed, no more Jumping zoners visiting everyone and everything. etc and NOT with ores for a full wack of profit)

RE: Jump Drives - a Poll - Narcotic - 03-29-2013

Although I barely have experience with jumping devices, I'd restrict them to non-trading vessels only. (After all I've never really used it, except for 'accidentally' being near a jumping vessel when it just finished charging.) I doubt that its original purpose was for trading anyways.

I'd love to have its requirements lowered, so even smaller vessels can use it. Thus I approve of the 'empty-cargo-restriction'.

Well if I am to directly address this question, the answer is yes, it has improved our whole factions experience. It is something we do very rarely but is a great oppertunity for 4-7 of us to get in-game, and have some fun. As I've explained numerous times, we rarely do this and fly with as many escourts as there are people able to help out, the profit margin is insignificant and secondary to the fun we have.

So yes it's improved our experience however it is abused and 95% of jump traders I disapprove of. So the option in the poll I'm closest to is the 2nd one, we love it but don't do it all the time, infact we hardly ever. Although that's what makes it a treat.
