Gunboat - Turkish - 06-22-2008 Started modeling this last night when I had no connection to the internet, I'd say it sits in its final stages right now. I've heard a few people say the Order is a good fit, I'd tend to agree but I'm looking for community opinions now. Have at it. Perhaps make the bridge a bit bigger, though? it makes the ship look bigger overall. Gunboat - Tenacity - 06-22-2008 I still think it looks too much like a warship. Legeonation's Ra gunboat had the same issue... I can understand a battleship or carrier or battlecruiser being big, bulky, and very tough looking... but the order doesnt go to open war with anyone. Their osiris battleships are staging platforms for stealth incursions or home defense. An order gunboat would be used for dangerous recon and infiltration missions, not open warfare. A recon ship is not going to be bulky and massive as is portrayed here... it'd be sleek, thin, and in general appear very fast and very stealthy. Gunboat - Heartless - 06-22-2008 Like I said before, I think some nice attachments to the side would do and do something with the torp tubes. Also, something to change with that bridge-ish thing? It makes the ship look big with the size of that, so maybe some alteration. Gunboat - Eternal - 06-22-2008 At the moment it looks like a mini Osiris , meaning that is suits the role of Order Cruiser better then Order GB. I agree with what Tenacity said. Gunboat - Tenacity - 06-22-2008 I edited the image a bit, made the thing overall slightly shorter and skinnier, increased the bridge size, removed a lot of the 'ribs', this could maybe serve as an order destroyer (more powerful than a gunboat, but not as powerful as a cruiser): Compared to the original: Gunboat - Tic - 06-22-2008 Lower image with upper bridge. It would look very cool. And the model fits Order like a glove. Gunboat - Jinx - 06-22-2008 bit like dooms IMG gunboat. - at first glance i was disappointed to fly a shoebox - but it reveals more details on second glance. - its a nice design..... but it does not look very fancy, - very low key and functional. judging form the general shape, it follows the liberty GB with its very narrow and vertical profile. i think it looks more modern than the osiris - while still based on either the osiris or the liberty ships. - it shows less "stuff" on the outside, and suggests that its a very compact design. for the order, i still like legenations concept more, cause it looks like a joint project of the corsairs and the order. - this one looks order, too, but not like the corsairs had their hands in the developement. about the sideviews... the upper one looks better, cause it supports the idea of compactness. the lower one with the many ribs looks like a comb. /shrug - the BHG has a gunship and a gunboat. - and just cause we add ships doesn t mean they cannot be labelled ( old and new ) - so this one could be a new design, while legenations could be an old design, when the order relied more on the corsairs. legenations could be an eight gun model - like the corsair anti-cap gunboat. - this one could be a counter to the BHG gunship with "only" 5 - 6 guns and the same low amount of cargo / armour. - that would be my suggestion. Gunboat - kingvaillant - 06-22-2008 make it shorter, with a more aerodynamic front, so it may look more like a GB and ohh, please add some details on the sides Gunboat - Turkish - 06-23-2008 Updated it a bit, made it look a little sleeker. I wont be able to work on it until tomorrow however. Its in need of a command centre as well. [attachmentid=5094] [attachmentid=5095] [attachmentid=5096] |
