Moorning fixtures - Tibbles - 04-10-2013 This idea wants to improve Rp experience and generate more relation between players in game. At first sight I'm sure that most of you will think "Hell no!" but i think that there's a lot of possibilities if we not only look to the "power trade nerf" part. What if the Transport couldn't dock at Planets and small bases? Quote:Cons: Quote:Pros: Do you think that would improve gameplay? Do you see more pros and cons? RE: Morning fixtures - Jinx - 04-10-2013 not allowing big transports to dock - and having to rely on intermediete tansports - does/will work as good as getting escorts. in some cases it is possible - in most cases - its simply not possible. it can be brought down to a simple matter of math. - on peak times - we currently enjoy around ~120 players lets say - we have 5 battleships on the server and 20 transports here is what players "demanded" for those specific ships - battleship should have escorts - lets take a leaf from vanilla - and give them 2 cruises, maybe 2 gunships and 4 fighters meaning - 5 battleships will have 10 cruisers, 10 gunships and 20 fighters - if they have less - we tend to call them lolwuts and make fun of their inability to protect themselves. that makes 45 players already - then we have 20 transports ... and we ask them to use escorts - one close escort and one scout to be perfect once they dock they also need at least one intermediete transport - but maybe rather 2 so each transport occupies another 4-5 spots x20 is 80-100 players just to be inRP and also capable of trading right now - we are at maybe 125-145 players necessary for only those operations add in pirates etc in short - we do not have the playerbase to make such micromanagement a mandatory act. edit: of course you can say "but you don t need escorts - and teaming up and all" - but then we would need to stop calling those ppl lolwuts and laugh at their situation. i daresay its harder to change the communities mindset than to advertise to get 400 active players. so - it would not improve the gameplay. it might improve the roleplay - but the gameplay on a small community would greatly suffer from it. RE: Moorning fixtures - Zen_Mechanics - 04-10-2013 Phyiscly they can dock at planets but not on small bases, yet it still make sense for large vessels to dock on small bases ( assuming you can imagine a tube that allows a safe passage through the vessel into the base ). I'd have to say no, perhaps a barge on the other hand can't because thats the killer hill. RE: Moorning fixtures - Scumbag - 04-10-2013 Are you asking for mooring fixtures to be added to bases? No, was asking if erasing the moorning fixtures from Planets and the ability of transorts to dock at small bases would improve the gameplay/relation between plyers. Acording to the small poll it seems that no. @Jinx - I think i see your point. RE: Moorning fixtures - Hone - 04-10-2013 I vote no, just cos they existed in Vanilla. RE: Moorning fixtures - AeternusDoleo - 04-11-2013 Given that planets form the core of the house economies, I'm not in favor of denying transports the ability to dock there. At all. All you would get at that point is that instead of a mooring, planets would need an orbital supply depot to facilitate trade. Most house planets have such a facility (Trenton, Waterloo, Roppongi etc). It'd require the addition of more bases. Aside from that, it'll basically make trade with planets like Kurile pointless. And the AI cruiser would need to be dropped from the game since it could never get off of Gammu. Denying cruisers and battleships the ability to moor with smaller stations is something that can be considered. Techwise we have the ability to do this now, wether or not it's a good idea is a matter up for debate. |
