Howdy Reginald,

Ain't a chance that there's still a spare spot on that cruise of yours, is there?

I reckon you're likely wondering why the change of heart and, hell, I guess you've got as much of a right to know as any. I'm not sure if you're still patched through in Navy Comms, but the full story went through there. To cut out the flowery business, Normandie wasn't for me. It wouldn't have been right for me to hang around, at the cost of the boys and girls on that boat.

Anyway, I hope retirement's treating you well enough. If you're still around Liberty, it'd be right decent if you want to catch up. Don't think we've met in person since that trip down on... Hell, California, was it? Can't have been the best evening, seeing as I was still busted up from Clearwater. Way I see it, I owe you a dinner where I'm not driftin' off every few minutes.

Let me know if you're around.

Hello there, Jane.

Sorry about the delayed response, I don't check my old navy comms addresses as often as I used to.

I heard about your decision on the grapevine. I'll have to say I was a little surprised and disappointed. You could've ended up as a Captain or Admiral, given time....but it'd be slightly hypocritical of me to say it to you, hm? It's your decision, and I respect it.

I never took that Cruise liner. Decided to hang around home on Denver instead for a few quiet months, before deciding where to go with all the sudden spare time I have. Should probably think about grabbing a job...although I don't quite know what I'd be good for. Soldiering is all I know, sadly. (he laughs)

Anyways, Catching up sounds like a good idea. When and where is your call, this time...

Howdy Reginald,

Hardly a problem. Doubt either of us checks these addresses as much as we used to.

Damn. Admiral Hartman. That's a right scary thought. I never did aspire to the brass Lewis, you know that. Hell, if I hadn't run in to Sius when I did, I wouldn't have come back as an Officer at all. High Command would've had me throwing a desk out the window within a week to get away from the thing. Still. Nice to have you backing me, even if it ain't much of a choice for you this time.

Speaking of choices, I'll let you make the call on where we eat. You're the seasoned civvie now, you've got to know somewhere decent for a bite. I'm still playing mess brat down at the vet's club on Houston, when I'm not pulling some part-time shifts at the Recruitment Center. If you're still lookin' for something I'm sure we could find you a spot there for a while. It's not much, but it stops me sleeping 'till ten every morning.

Still trying to figure out what to do with all this damn free time myself, short of keepin' Houston's dust from wearing down everything that moves. The struggles of post-service life.

Hartman, out.

Hartman.

If you -don't- doubt yourself as a commander, you're probably a bad one. It would have been a harsh road, but it would also pay out.
I was in the running for Admiral myself, at some point. But that's a story
for some other time.

Seasoned Civilian, huh? Sounds an awful like 'fit to be around normal people.' [He chuckles] You could say that I am, at that. Thanks for the job offer, I'll think about it. And since you pushed the responsibility of choosing a place on me again...

Pilot's Flask, Los Angeles.Confirm when you can get there and I'll take a shuttle.
