Some things regarding Mk I ships - Karst - 05-14-2013 So as I'm sure most of us know at this point, Mk I ships are going to be phased out com .87. I have some questions / suggestions regarding a number of Mk I ships which were mentioned in this thread, but not conclusively answered, specifically questions regarding Mk I ships that don't have Mk II equivalents with the same model. - Starflier: Will it remain unchanged? Currently, it serves literally no purpose since the starting CSV is much more useful. - Startracker: This is the most important question here for me personally. The Startracker is currently among the worst ships in the game, considerably worse even than the 'flier. Aet mentioned in the other thread that (03-21-2013, 10:39 AM)AeternusDoleo Wrote: The Startracker will remain available at a number of locations.however, there was no mention on whether or not it will be changed in any way. I suggested this in the other thread but no one responded so I'm going to suggest it here: Could we please, please get the Startracker tuned up to Mk II levels? I love the model, much more than either the 'flier or 'blazer, and I'd kill to have it be useful. So I suggest simply turning it into a slightly lighter version of the Startblazer, with stats something along the lines of this. Starblazer / Startracker 2 c9 1 c8 / 1 c9 2 c8 guns 5500 / 5300 hull 40 / 36 repairs 87.85 / 91.67 turn rate (Just some approximate suggestions, this) - Rhino and Humpback It was also mentioned that they would stay, like all the unique model Mk I ships, but not if they'd be changed in any way. - Finally, the Legionnaire. There was also a discussion on that in the thread, but with no conclusion other than that it would stay in the mod. I remember a while back, before that thread, there was a poll for Corsairs asking if they'd prefer the Legionnaire to be their LF rather than the Decurion. A majority wanted the Legionnaire, but I don't remember if there was any official response to this. The solution I suggest, which I also did in that other thread: Make the Legionnaire a Mk II ship to serve as the Sair LF. Turn the Decurion into a Civilian LF (since most Corsairs seem to hate it anyway and it doesn't look that much like a Sair design), sell it in places like Zoner bases in the Omegas and say it's "inspired by Corsair designs". Thoughts? RE: Some things regarding Mk I ships - AeternusDoleo - 05-14-2013 Startracker: The thing has a TINY surface which makes up for its lower rate of turning. Its basically a gnat - doesn't do much damage but a bitch to swat down. It'll remain as is - mostly to serve as a low-level NPC ship for civilian factions. The Starflier will also remain as the basic ship, which can be turned into a CSV by means of a /restart Not sure if I've got the Startracker confused with the Starblazer. Seeing stars keeping all these ships apart... Legionnaire replaces the Decurion model. Since the Decurion model is sound - and appreciated by quite a number of players - I'll hang on to it and see if we can put it to use in another fashion somewhere. Turning it into a Civvy design hadn't really crossed my mind, but that might actually work quite nicely. Good idea! About the size: I don't understand this argument, since this applies equally to the Flier and Blazer. Yet both have a whopping 50% higher turn rate than the poor tracker. The Starflier is even smaller and has barely less firepower, while the Starblazer is the same size (assuming the silly "moustache" isn't hitboxed - even if it is, it can't make much of a difference) and has about 8 times the firepower. Basically what I'm saying is, the Starflier fills the role of the pathetic noob ship and low level NPC escort just fine. We don't need another, very similar ship that's even worse for players. Edit: NPC ship stats are, as far as I know, totally independent of the ship's actual stats when used by players. So that shouldn't matter.
