The Sanctuary - Short Film - |Scarecrow| - 05-16-2013

Hello everyone,

My name is Chris, a few of you may remember me from New Universe, Level 2, Evolved... As either Scarecrow or Dark_Angel. I'm here now to share something with you all that I hope you'll appreciate and enjoy.

I used to write loads of fan fiction, as some of you may know. Half of it was absolute rubbish, and now when I go back to read something I wrote when I was 13, I find it laughable. I mimicked authors I liked at the time, I stole characters and plots and my writing technique was utterly dreadful. I like to think I've come a long way since then, and I have a few projects on the go, some of which I will share with you guys, that I am very proud of.

Freelancer and its numerous online communities like Discovery (and especially Evolved and Shattered Worlds for anyone who was there) were what pushed me into this. In fact the creative writing and fan fiction of Freelancer is what made me decide to go to University to study scriptwriting, and then through that, to cut a long story short, I went into film making.

Not gonna ramble too much about how I got here, but I now consider myself an amateur film maker, with the aspirations of becoming a reasonably well respected writer / director. My current targets are film festivals and shorts collections in independent cinemas.

And now I get to the point of my post; The Sanctuary! The Sanctuary is the third short film I have directed since I graduated University. Only this one is different because I managed to get a private investor interested in the script. We managed to secure a modest amount of money for this project, and so I consider it my first attempt at a professional venture into the film making industry. We (my group of colleagues and I) like to think that we always work to a high professional standard, but the budget we had access too for this project unlocked many more possibilities for us, in terms of cast, equipment, crewing the project, having it edited professionally, etc, etc.

And I'd like to share it with you! The project is still not quite finished yet. We are in the final stages of post production at the moment (I am currently working on the sound design and the score and awaiting news on some animation that needs completing for one particular scene).

We aim to screen the film around the UK, in short collections in cinemas and in film festivals. So I'll update you on all of that as and when.

But for now, here is the link to our site;

From there you can watch our trailer, find info on cast & crew as well as background info on the project as a whole.

Our Facebook page (Please feel free to like & comment, you can add me if you like, Chris Andrew, my picture is that of a bloke holding a cannon DLSR camera on a rig)

Anyways, hope you guys like the look of the project. I'm seeking to broaden my audience so as I say, please feel free to share it all, spread it all, do whatever. And I welcome comments and feedback.

You never know, there might be a screening near you if you live in the UK! I am aiming nationally with this. Might enter it in some US and Euro festivals too, depending on how it does.

Thanks for reading!

Chris,
Scarecrow.

P.S. Everything refers to me as Christopher Linton, instead of Chris Andrew. Linton is my Mother's maiden name, and I just prefer it to Andrew on my creative credits. Andrew sounds a bit dull to me...

Yep that is an inspiration, one of several. Aiming for a July screening and then on to festivals!
