Bretonian Royal Air Force - Avalanche - 05-23-2013 /> Re-Coded Copy Bretonian Royal Air Force Royal Air Force Airfields & Bases Fighter & Recky Command Bomber Command Missile Command The Royal Air Force or RAF as it is commonly called has a long history of being the first line of defense of the people. The Royal Navy began to act as the space combat force of her Majesty's Armed Forces so the Royal Air Force was left as the only operational air power over the Bretonian planets. Many feared that an invasion would be executed on the Planet of Leeds and so over sixty percent of all Air Force operations, personnel and equipment were transfered over to planet Leeds. Cambridge kept a further 25 percent and New London held the remainder. Air Force leadership and Air Marshall's felt strongly that New London was the most secure planet in Bretonian controlled space due to the almost impossible task of setting enough ground forces on the planet to warrant the Air Force being desperately needed. Leeds remained the biggest threat of a invasion from Kusari ground and air forces so it was therefore the most heavily populated by ground & air forces. The system of Leeds also became the most heavily populated for Armed Forces Space Craft to act as a deterrent to the scenario of an invasion. The Royal Air Force became the work horse for the Army and Marines. It transported every soldier or piece of equipment such as an artillery gun or tank over long distances to the front line. It also dropped down supplies and ammunition to the troops in any type of terrain. When Artillery bases began to run low on stock piles of shells and energy for the cannons then the Air Force would be called to drop in whatever is needed. The most common heavy work horse for the Royal Air Force is the Merlin Transport. It is super sonic, heavily armoured and yet able to carry over 72 soldiers. With the ability to also hover with thrusters underneath the aircraft it can hover for over 30 minutes. This allows it to drop troops in cities, drop down supplies to the ground, pick up troops and or vehicles. "Merlin" K3W-32PD Transport As well as transportation the Air Force also conducts vital combat air support for the Army. Attack gunships, heavy, light and passive bombers, Ariel recky, missile support, emergency extraction and more. It truly is the shield and sword of the army. The Royal Air Force pilot has an overall in the colour of light blue which is the RAF's colour. Along with RAF mark I armour to give the pilot protection of vital organs and flexibility in the cockpit. Detachable utility belt and sidearm holster comes built in. Gloves and boots are always worn. The helmet protects the whole head from projectiles, light level lasers, explosions and impacts. The visor also has the same properties and protects the user just as much as the metal helmet however it is more likely to shatter. The visor has built in electronics that bring up the battle net and mapping to guide the pilot of the terrain and coordinate strikes and ground forces positions on a virtual battlefield. Royal Air Force Pilot RE: Bretonian Royal Air Force - Avalanche - 05-23-2013 Missile Command Missile command is a branch of the Royal Air Force that handles all high grade ground missile launches and usage through Bretonia. The Army has some low grade missiles and rockets that can take out a tank or aircraft and the Royal Navy has a lot of missile batteries and silos on capital ships which can dish out a lot of damage but missile command is on a whole other level. The sort of missiles that the missile command handles are nuclear, chemical, molten and very large conventional explosives. They are capable of destroying entire ground armies, bases and even cities in a blink of an eye also launching missile strikes on space fleets which are capable of causing mass destruction within hostile ranks. Missile Command has a lot of silos throughout Bretonia such as Stratford Air Field however over 90% of the silos are connected to either other RAF bases or Army & Navy bases. Cadian base is one of three that is a whole base dedicated to missile command and no other branch. Cadian Missile Base Cadian base is a duel missile platform site on Planet Leeds. Both heavily guarded and far away from civilian populations. Thirty percent of the base is above the ground level and the rest is dug into the rock and deep into the ground. It contains tens and tens of missiles as well as munition storages and personnel living quarters. RE: Bretonian Royal Air Force - Avalanche - 05-23-2013 Airfields & Bases West Side of the base Stratford Air Field is a 40 acre facility up in a mountain on planet New London. It was designed and constructed in 655 AS by a company of Royal Engineers. The base is not known by the general public and the secret has been kept safe by those who did build it early in the year 645 AS. The base is the command and control center for all operations on New London. With over twelve landing pads and strips as shown below, the base can launch entire air fleets in a matter of moments. The base is also dug into the mountains and has a massive deposit of fuel, ammunition, and spare air craft. Due to this the base can carry out full spectrum war operations twenty four hours a day, seven days a week for over five months without resupplies. Planet Leeds has a similar style base called Bastion Base but that one is known to the public and is much larger. Bastion Base also houses the command and control center for fighter & bomber command. It also has three missile silos within the base that can launch and attack anywhere on the planets surface as well as launch into space to assist the Navy. Bastion base also has the facilities to maintain gunship and snubs of the Royal Navy. However space is limited to only a couple of dozen snubs and four gunships. Two landing pads and strips with the control tower in the center Lancaster Airfield Lancaster Airfield is positioned on the outskirts of the city of Leeds. It is a four mile long site that has over two hundred Royal Air Craft housed on the landing strips, hangers or underneath storing bays. The base is not heavily protected but a neighboring Army depot is only five hundred meters away from the outside walls. With tanks and infantry close by the airfield, support in the defense of the base. Birmingham Airbase. Hanger 02. Birmingham Airbase is located on planet Leeds. It is on the outskirts of the main city of Leeds and has a large array of aircraft and personnel housed within the tall structure. The building is affectively a sky scraper with offices and rooms inside, and on the edge it has open hangers with the capability of deploying gunships and troop or logistic transports to assist any battles around the planet. Birmingham Airbase is one skyscraper of about five located around the city of Leeds. It is unknown to the public the exact number of aircraft housed within the building and the floors beneath the ground. London Airbase RE: Bretonian Royal Air Force - Avalanche - 05-23-2013 Fighter & Recky Command Atmospheric Dogfight Fighter & Recky Command owns the skies of Bretonia. With a wide range of aircraft capable of out maneuvering most spacecraft, they are capable of defending planets against invasions along with effective fire missions from missile command whom assist in taking out heavy hostile vessels while atmospheric fighters or 'jets' take on the smaller targets.
