Miyuki Ikeda better known as 'The Kitsune' lay on her bed. She fumbled through some contracts paying more attention to the beautiful panorama of New Tokyo rather than the papers. She loved this penthouse. Yet her mind could not be distracted enough from the thoughts she had.
Normally she would be contemplating the ways that could improve and secure her position in the Kusari black market. But not today. Not this week. Because what she got her hands on changed her life forever.
She took the file from her desk again. After scanning her retina, fingerprint and even DNA the file unfolded in front of her in the the air. She listed through it so many times already yet she had to do it again.
She skipped all the text until she reached the image she wanted to see again. Magnificent creature. A path to an eternal life. Means to becoming god between mere mortals.
Kitsune felt the now familiar tingling on her skin. She could control that thing, she was sure of it. After all she controlled most of the Kusari's underworld. How much harder it could be to control this creature. And the powers it offered. She moved her hand to left and a video footage unveiled in front of her.
Miyuki curiously watched the camera footage from the so called Tekagi raid. She paid 50 million credits for but it was worth every second. She always wondered what was so precious in Tohoku that Naval forces restricted access to it so heavily. Kitsune never smelled a scent of money from there so she never pursued that knowledge. That was in days when she was in need of money.
Hearing the rumors of 'dark spirits' roaming there she always thought of it as a superstition. Now she knew there was a hint of truth in those talks.
She wondered how many of those things are there. Does she meet them every day? Miyuki laughed. Of course not. There can only be few gods to rule the peasantry. Such is the law of nature. You only need a few shepherds to control the herd.
Most of the remaining information on the drive was not so valuable. Fragments, partial reports. But she saw what she needed to see.
She closed the file and stepped out on the roof in her gown once again enjoying the view of the New Tokyo city 1. All the lights and colors. The air was clear here and artificial blinders even allowed her to gaze to the starts, pleasure normally unachievable due to light of the city. Miyuki smiled, she was lucky to find the person who provided her this information. And he thought he was lucky too. After all, how many times do you get to earn 50 million credits, Shame he did not enjoy them long. With this kind of information, you cannot leave trails.
She was used to doing illegal things. Hell, she sold slaves, cardamine, weapons, whores, everything. If there was something illegal she has probably done it. But this was more than that. This was state security illegal. The last thing she wanted was Kempentai sniffing around her. Getting rid of them was always a problematic task. She knew, she had that "pleasure" once.
Miyuki breathed out deeply and then sat inf ront of her computer. She had a butterflies in her stomach. Grinning she turned the screen on. Finally some thrill. She contacted all her brokers with a specific informations who to look for.
Miyuki was lying on the bathroom floor. Her vision slightly blurred. She felt sick. She had a dream? Was it a dream? It all felt so blurred. She felt terribly hot.
She was standing at the penthouse view when out of nowhere a stranger appeared next to her. There was nothing special on him except his eyes. They looked like they have seen thousand years. Thousands suns die and being born again. Countless galaxies. Window to the void. This man stood next to her out of nowhere.
Miyuki twitched. How did he get past all the guards and security systems. Who was he? Did he come to kill her? Who was he?!
"Nobody. You were looking for something. My attention was caught."
Miyuki gasped out this time again on the floor of the bathroom, her forehead sweaty. She was looking indeed. But how did he find her.
"So we are talking about a symbiosis here?"
"That is an... accurate word." said the stranger.
It all felt blurred. Mixed. Time was merged together. Past, present, future. Where is she? Who is she?
***...'Us'...***
She screamed out. A voice in her head. But it wasn't only a voice. A part of her being. She twitched on the floor.
Miyuki lighted a cigarette offering to the man next to her.
"So tell me, what do you desire the most to the point that you began stirring both earth and -heaven-?"
"Knowledge, power, eternity"
"Then I suspect you are willing to offer plenty in return. Right?"
"Indeed"
She stared at the fluorescent light from the floor of her bathroom her eyes widened. Then she started to laugh. Miyuki stared at the light until she passed out again.
