I really like cooking - and experiments (yet not always rest of my family appreciate them)
Lately I made plenty of dishes with pumpkin - a specially Red kuri squash (Hokkaido pumpkin) eg.
- beef stew with pumpkin - served with buckwheat or rice
- pumpkin casserole with pork and peppers (whole sprinkled with cheese)
- pumpkin fries
- pumpkin cream soup served with peas puff
Neat dish are beer-pancakes (beer instead milk) stuffed with mushrooms, bacon and cheese
I'm quite proud of my stuffed peppers - with meat, couscous and corn
-----
Speaking of pizza - I personally prefer thin crust.
One of my favorite homemade-pizzas is: with salsa instead tomato sauce,
with thick slices of salami, onion, corn + extra cheese inside the edges.
Second one - is sold in restaurant nearby my apartment:
with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, long-ripening ham, pear,
chilli, gorgonzola cheese and oregano
Maggie Noodles saved me during my collage days, i couldn't cook anything other than instant noodles
long live Maggie noodles!
Absolutely!
I myself am into 'Cup Noodles', the Japanese version, when I can get them. The thing to remember when buying them, is that the closer to red the package is the hotter they are going be.
Blue is your basic seafood, green is chicken. Orange is a laksa (sp?) of some sort and I have no idea what purple is but they are way to hot for me.
Simplest food item out there, peel the top off, add hot water, close the top and wait a bit, then eat.
No little packages to open. Wonderful stuff.
Too bad I can't get my hands on the full range without traveling into the city or near enough to get to a Japanese import store that imports, well, all things Japanese as far as food goes from what the web site shows. They even do high quality Sake.
Mum regularly uses a specific kind of prepackaged soft noodles (two sealed bags to a pack) in place of rice.
One piece bread (your choice of bread)
Various things you would find on a Pizza.
Toast Bread.
Apply your favorite Pizza topping.
Cook in oven or if you want to eat fast, use the microwave.
Also, easy Noodles of various flavors. Buy OXO bullion cubes or food pastes (tomato, curry (so many flavors of curry!)) and add those instead of the flavor pack that comes with the noodles.
'Hearty Noodles'.
One pack plain noodles.
Some sort of meat. Beef or whatever.
Various vegetables.
Cut meat into cubes (buy chicken precooked and 'shred' ) and prepare vegetables. Cook meat a little.
Prepare noodles as normal and add meat and vegetables. Add salt & pepper to taste.
Cut chicken breast into thin strips, burn in a wok, then put aside
Two carrots cut into long sticks, two carrots grated, stick em in the wok afterwards on some oil
When they soften, add one whole leek cut into rings
Put in one red, one green paprika cut into small cubes
When it softens, throw in bout 350g of chopped salted peanuts
Mix up, let cook for another 5, then mix 5-6 spoonfuls of soy sauce in a cuppa warm water and some edible starch
Pour over veggies and peanuts, add chicken, toss and cook for 5 more, and you're done
Serve on rice bed and enjoy
