So I have this photo with some white borders. When I load it as a signature the white borders remain..What should I use [I have Photoshop CS 4] to fix the white borders and have a trasparent signature with the forum background?
I don't know if you did understand something..maybe these are n00b words for you that tries to explain my problem with this fine program. So I need help!
Delete the layer and have a pixel background. Then place whatever you want on there. When saving, SAVE AS...
.png
And done, you have a transparent background with no white borders.
EDIT: Steps on how to do it:
1 - Make a new page or have an image and cut it by selecting it and using CTRL+X
2 - Open the Layers window and make a new one.
3 - Delete the previous layer after you made the new one.
4 - You have a pixel background (Put your crap there. NOTE: If you cut the image, paste it at this step using CTRL+V)
5 - Save it as .png (this allows transparency. Where to find it? First go to File>Save As... > File type: .PNG> [NAME IT])
Open the pic. I assume it's not a .psd file, so you should see a single layer. If it's called 'background' right-click and 'layer from background'. Now get magic wand tool, set it to continuous, about 40% threshold and click the white border, and delete it (del). Now you should see the image with gray-white border instead of white.
That plaid indicates an alpha channel - so you can see what's behind, be it another layer, or the forum background. You have to save the picture as .png, since it's common and stores alpha-channel.
open image
right box -> layer box, it shows "background"
copy that layer
delete the original layer
press w
press right click
select "color range"
pick the color on the image that you want to remove (like the border white etc)
press delete
IF
the color range selects other areas that you dont want to delete
then do this
press w
select the parts you want to delete instead of right clicking.
