So, I lately had a look at some of the trains that use pods and thought: "Well, a shame that those pods cannot be used on some other transports"
Well, I remember some older threads about this topic:
As you can infer from those threads, it has been discussed a bit in the past. So, could it be possible that a few of the other current transport models
get adjusted to using the cargo pods?
I understand that there might be balancing reasons when it comes to the hitboxes of course.
To my mind current transports should be able to use the pods:
Mammoth
Big Dragon
Nanga Parbat
Kujira
Akegata
Golem
Zoner Whale
Pachyderme
Mastodon
Ryuujin
Atlas
Colossus
I have chosen those ships because they have, according to their current models some sort of fixed cargo pods attached to the actual ships.
So, in exchange of these fixed pods perhaps the cargo pods could be used, giving the ships a bigger variety in terms of inRP use and looks.
Moreover, at least to my mind, the cargo pods would perhaps give the ships a bit more HP, but the hitbox should not be screwed up too much.
Just look at the zoner whale. it could still be snaced from above. And at the Mastodon the pods could get some "protection" by armor panels that blend over them and are part of the ship hitbox.
So, your opinion about this topic? I know, that adjusting the models is not done over night...

@Reid : Yep, right, I mean the Colossus. Fixed the OP.
@eigos : Well, I am afraid, but I have never tried modelling at all, this thread was rather meant to be as an idea that some modeller or dev is willing to check out.
Nothing wrong with the idea in my opinion, it'd be nice to see some less generic transports. I mean for me I'm all for the aesthetic prospect of it, perhaps they could have different purposes/requirements depending on cargo too?
