I voted stay as it is. Discovery has a very good atmosphere. RP is good, but everything doesnt need to be.

I have to say both RP and PvP. I don't think that I could stand just an RP or just a PvP way to play. It's nice to RP a lot, but I think that it's also nice just to PvP with some people and have a laid-back time in the process of it.

Since RP and PvP tends to be the side that discovery leans towards, it should stay the same. This allows a good diversity of players, and regardless, a good amount of the PvP stems out of RP anyway.

In an idealistic sense for me, we would have a little bit more RP and less PvP. It's kind of like a balancing act. You have to have the right amount of PvP from RP, RP from PvP, RP, or PvP.

I agree with most of the poll saying that they want it to stay the same.

Stay the way it is ... Always used to work perfectly. The *Must* PvP element has crept
in more recently. If thats your bag, go to Connecticut, thats what its there for ...
Total RP, as quoted by a few, is a hard one to police without actually locking elements of
game before anyone starts, and I'm pretty sure none of us want that.
If all you want is PvP, there are plenty of servers out there where you can go and try to
beat the crap out of all and sundry. Also now, and I know a few who have signed up, if
you want the total RP experience there is now a huge stand alone mod out there based
on Halo, Freelancer Combat evolved.
If you wish to play here though, be nice if everyone stuck to the rules that Igiss has
worked bloody hard on creating, for all of our benefit. I'm bored with finding people still
not having the correct ID/Tag, and with a shed load of excuses why not.
We've been down this road all to often ...
With no server police here, its up to all of us to make it work the way it is now, otherwise
it will have to go one way or the other, and I really wouldn't like to see that.

Thank you all for your replies and thoughts on this matter.

I seriously doubt if anything decided here would or even should be acted upon, like I said in my first post I just wanted to see what everyone else thought.

A tiny point about having to use nomad and codename weapons, have you even tried other weapons?

As for mcneos point on having the faster firing guns work better on graviton shields... it's probably because their not designed to work well against that type of shield, most guns with a refire rate higher then 4.00 are photon or laser weapons which work best against positron shields and are weakest against graviton shields.

And most of the 3.03 and 4.00 refire weapons are best against molecular (in the case of most pirate faction weapons) or positron shields, the only 2.00 refire weapons are plasma and codename weapons. The plasma weapons work best against graviton shields and the codename weapons don't say which shield type they're best against.

So the problem is that as the graviton shields have the highest energy rating, they're the most commonly used shields, you need particle and plasma, or high damage (like the codenames and nomad) weapons mounted because they work best against graviton shields.

When it gets to the point where everyone has similar/identical loadouts, thats when people will start to switch to different shields to gain an advantage, until then...

So RP, as far as weapon loadouts and ships (for most player factions), will continue to be ignored so that players can win in PvP.

I'm sorry for the long-winded reply/rant, just thought you'd like to know what I think.
