When you go to validate your copy use the "voice activation" it's more annoying but more easily fooled. Follow the instructions and use the key they provide. Then update. :)

I just had a thought, I am back in college in two or three weeks, and I may be able to get a copy of Windows 7 RC for free and legal. So i think I may wait until then, but I may try that voice activation thing, is it via phone or PC? I haven't got a working microhpone on me.

But I've tried activating the current version and it will not update, and my PC will not update to service pack 3, which worries me a lot.
I may convert to Linux Ubuntu, but that means no Freelancer Discovery:(
Help?:( Please?
You may not be able to validate an OEM copy of XP SP2 anymore. I bought an OEM copy last week and it was SP3.
btw the OEM bit means its a copy to be installed on a computer you will be selling as a business (the 'customer' does not get the CD just whats installed). Microsoft does not intend you to instal an OEM copy on a subsequent PC you build. The installed OSs hard drive will only work with the Motherboard of the original PC. If you just want to get by till you can obtain a new OS CD then you could skip activation and get any updates from softwarepatch.com, bearing in mind to turn auto-update off. I dont recommend buying OEM versions for all the above reasons but they are all thats available now, though maybe a friend has a Full version CD they no longer need (perhaps due to an upgrade) which you could utilise?
