Ok. Now I've been going around the forums and I've seen on many seperate occasions people complaining or explaining OORP ship use. Now I'm not the most savvy when it comes to mod design. But why are ships that are not supposed to be used by anyone other than the faction they are designed for available publicly?!
How come ships like the Ravon's Claw arnt only available in a LSF Guard system? (if it exists:P)
Or for another example why is an order fighter available publicly on Kurile instead of just the Order homeworld/guard system.
People are getting confused and flamed for taking the public availability of these ships for face value. Is it too far'fetched to see these ships moved to their respective factions Guard systems?
I am aware that there is a bit of work involved when getting the ID and tag that allows for Guard system access so it could be difficult for new faction members to be able to access the equipment that's neccessary. But really in my opinion, I think it should be more difficult. New faction members might get a trainee ship for implementing RP, ID and tag first, then once they have earned the Rep and ID they will finally have access to the Guard System and all that it has to offer.
I think ships like common fighters for a faction should be sold on bases in their space. However, Battleships and other ships should be sold on Guard systems, and Gunboats + Cruiser/Destroyers should be sold in a factions home system, (not guard though).
It still doesnt make much difference, if you're in the green for a normal faction, you'll be nuetral to their guard faction which allows you to go purchase the ship.
The only thing this would allow is player factions to KOS the people in their guard systems, and unfortunately you cant have people on 24/7 to bother with that.
Correction- you can be full green to a faction and full red to their guard, or vice versa. You have to either take a bribe or do missions for a faction to improve guard rep, whacking or helping their friends affects faction rep, not guard rep. Thus, while it is easy-ish to get guards to all be friendly, you have to do it, and like you said player factions have more sway.
THEN AGAIN, Korrd made them have that sway even now. If you have a capship, the player factions can beat you up if you don't either ask nicely or RP appropriately. Silence can get you killed, bye bye to the twerps who just sit quietly and kill NPCs/slow-moving players.
I agree with Sovereign.
Getting Guard to be friendly to you requires you to take a vested interest in that particular factions Rep above all others.
When I say make ships Guard specific I mean ALL caps and advanced specific to faction fighters. So yeah the Defender and Guardian would be available publically but the ravon's claw would not.
Maybe if There were more civilian ship models that look good and perform better available around Sirius then it would help to quell any ignorant
oorp ship buyers.
I know there are a lot of balance issues with this but I'm pretty much only looking to increase RP accuracy above all else.
