I guess I can understand the idea of the tradeoff between a bit of defense and maximum profit, but it does make me a bit sad that there's virtually no such thing as a true 5K transport anymore. I know what you mean on the obsessive need for even numbers. Especially with the way bases call for, say, 50,000 of some material (or some other number divisible by 5,000), it's a bit annoying to know that instead of just 10 full trips, it'll be 10 full trips plus an 11th trip with only a few hundred units.
This is really valid point- Stork cannot defend itself if the pilot is not OP and if he is OP he would dodge in the same way with While even better. If you are going to use guns well- I does not have anything that can mount cau with less then cau6.

I wasn't making any point about combat and defense in transports. Sometimes people choose to fly Storks without guns or transport shields, and that's fine. That's their decision. There's no "point" to be made about that.
Yeah, I've been doing the no guns/freighter shield since the hour that update hit. I fly a 5k for the 5k baby. Never used armour before anyway, never shot the guns at anything. If I fought pirates all the time maybe that would be different, but I hate all the battletransports.
Flying gaian wildlife late at night is pretty wild, running into those gallic cruisers outside harris. Even 41's mines can drain your shield most of the way. But idc. Fits the rp of that ship anyway.
In my opinion, i think that "whale philosophy" can work very good and in rp;
No guns - ok
No armour - not sure about that, why not
But and most important: should fly wiht escort if it has to do "non internal" trips, so you have a "mini barge" and each ship has his role, the whale/s is/are the cargo transport and for fight you have the escort/s :D
