Why not remove the barge and make a 10k transport that is practical and reliable?
Make it Cylindrical.
A bit longer than the advanced train.
6 turrets, 3 front and back.
No gad damn parts that jut out 100 feet that catch on to everything.
70 normal speed
200 cruise speed with 1 minute charge.
Moderate armor to give it an equivalent hit points to size ratio.
Cannot be used by Independents
Must have Faction ID and Tag

This is really good idea. But using by indies. Some barges are using by indies, why not to give them 10ker?
You does not get the basic roots of trade balance thats why. 10ker should not make more profit then 5ker because the balance is made for 5ker, in general if you make it to make the same profit as 5ker it would be redundant, if you make it with double profit it would be OP from the balance PoV.
So the only option to have something with more cargo then 5k is not to have this something moving like conventional transport or being even similar to 5ker.

Strong idea, but still. i would like to see moring fixtures maxibla able for 5000 ships. that what eber mayor firm/comapinie/and so on and so one , it woul still needed 2 5k vessels to empty up fast. rp wise for an planet or station like Pitsburg or Baltimore it would mean there should always be 1 player wich can help unload and refill the darn thing. i must admid, 40,000k is awsome but come one, its just not to do not even when the server has 15 people around.
i wiuls say what thise dude says and still give it some retrictrions to inpmrove rp. if that still doesnt work ahwel then be glad to get rid of the darn trouble giving thing.

Nerf to 30-20k will be enough to make it balanced. You say that indie mute traders in barges wont promote RP? Explain to me how indie mute 5kers promote RP. Barge is even more defenseless than any 5ker, pirate activity will rise, police activity will rise.
The barge can use priate com chanels its gettings close by, it would need at leat 3 fighter 2 bombers an 1 gunship for protections, then 1 star flyer to goes troug he lanes and such first so he is scout.once entering navy/police teretory you can hide ans ask bckup.
By the way, 20 or 30 would still be to muck, make it 10,000 of 15000 with an ships caglhold so it would have backup befoe other forces arive.

In Barge 1.0 there was just one, and it was a role play peice.
In Barge 2.0, anyone could buy it and tried to power trade with it. It was painful to manuver and had a slow cruise charge.
In Barge 3.0 it became a brick and the model changed, people still tried to power trade with it but left it as a movable large storage bin.
in all three versions I was told that "Me and two others in our 5ker (thats about 15k) make more money than that barge ever could in half the time."
Now we have Jump engines and the barge is back on top, maybe. It's still a brick and a pain to get into position to jump, from what I saw in Omega 49.
The only drawing factor to the Barge is 30k space. Thats it. You get a convoy of 5kers and you're just about up there for the barge. Im sure when you factor in the ship, the fuel, the time, the more ships, the mining/commodity buying and more time, it's got to take at least 5 jumps to come out even. Anyone ever do the math for that?
I must be doing something because I've never had a 5k mooring or docking issue, but countless ones on the barge.
I see it this way, if you have a barge you got to have a jumping ship and since I dont know squat about fuel consumption, I dont know how many more ships you need.
with 3 10kers, providing they are not multiboxing, you got three players plus 1 or 3 escorts.
on the other hand, when I used to see [convoy] around, there were 5-6 of them at a time. I guess what Im getting at is player base. Getting people to zonerjump isnt catching on for other factions, is it? I dont know, havent been here in a while.

3) Reduce its cargo capacity and massively increase its armour.
5) Prohibit barges docking at structures that are too small (i.e. allow docking only at mooring points)
These are the ones that actually sound remotely good ...
If people can't use the barge in any way they'll just move to the next best thing, so there's little point in nerfing the hell out of something so much that absolutely no one flies it ... it's huge, it's easy to pirate as it is, damn near impossible to pilot ...
As for removing it's cruise engines, yes because it reaches cruise speed incredibly fast and can outrun and outmaneuver even a light fighter ...
What I really can't understand is: why do people constantly try and nerf other people's toys around here. C'mon! Just play the damn game and enjoy it, I doubt that seeing something as huge and as easy to shoot down as a barge really ruins your game ... Why is everyone getting so bothered by it ?

Greetings! this is Andrew Black speaking agian from the Agiera|Etna . in a barge they have to hire transsports. tp unload and such. once on location a big chance he needs help unloading and filling up agian, once done right . seems to me as is would increase rp asltough it woudnt be nice rp
Maybe some rouges got bold and atcl amd we hve behinf the visul range some fighters and bombers ready, maybe even an gunsip i posile

i cuerently have 2 chars, 1Ageira:Etna, and on independent freelancer trader with an dl borderworlds stransport.
Both go almopst eveywhere and take almost anytig. anyone got some good outes for those newb who like to get into danerous planes ^-^
