I think any reasonable Councilman would go "We enjoyed the stability and safety of Baffin, it's kept us safe too. No reason to jeopardize that just to prove a point, it's a futile effort. Just set bases to engage GRN if they should happen to venture this far and find Baffin; but don't provoke unnecessary hostilities with the Outcasts".
I think a Colonial would go "Burn them, set bases to kill all the Outcasts, we'll support you to the best of our ability; but the bulk of our resources are aimed at building our new home".
And I think GRN would take a break from spanking Outcasts if they found out they're making a move on ze arch-nemeses, namely Council and CR and to a smaller extent TAZ.

And THAT was the initial point when constructing the station, defense against GRN. The station was neutral to everything else. Thing is, some decided to abuse this, and their action triggered the TAZ to defend the system against them too. And frankly, the Council could care less if there is one more parties shooting outcasts.

I can't be sure about the standpoint of the CR, could be this too, but we both, Council and Colonials respect the authority of TAZ in Baffin (as everyone else should), and we understand if they tolerate outcasts in their own system.

GRN wouldn't know Outcasts go against Council and CR, not even outcasts know who are the real caretakers of Mal Fp. They would just go against the station, and TAZ, and GRN would enjoy two less nuisances to care about and would continue concentrate on the Bretonian Front.
So Council, at the end of their rope struggling for survival, would devote precious machinery and personnel to TAZ's cause, would risk the unwanted exposure a quick Baffin war would bring, for no reason other than epeen to prove the point that Baffin is TAZ' sovereign territory?
What can I say, no wonder Council is losing the war against GRN lore-wise

To prove such a point? No, you are pretty much mistaken here, sir. But to defend a fortification which has been raised against their arch-enemies, sure they will fight for Mal Fp. (I've told you this in my previous post, if you would pay just a little bit of attention, that would be extremely helpful.)
Wouldn't they be clever and say "hey, I got an idea: Let's not kill those Outcasts that frequent Baffin in peace, we'll have one think less to worry about"?
I do pay attention to what you write, and I am familiar with the TAZ/CR/Council angle; I am not debating that singular and one-sided justification. I am just saying there's another side, and you should pay a little bit of attention to that...
I pay attention to that side as well, and I still think you are overreacting it a bit, given nobody else from that side argued this much about it as you do.
You brought up the issue, portraying it in such a way that it has been a serious offense to the general community that the official factions did not take it more serious. And because of that, you claimed that Official factions are not trustworthy when it comes to PoBs.
I attacked your statement as what you based on was not true, you were exaggerating, and based your claims on these exaggerations. You portrayed something to be a problem of the community when it was merely a problem of yours. I argued with that.
Seems I have misinterpreted your words then, thinking you imply that it would be their fault that they do not prove to be a guarantee. But your way of arguement sure helped in this misinterpretation.
Still I say that Official factions are more of a guarantee than unofficials and indies. I know of only a handful of unofficials capable to handle a base properly.
