Also worth noting that not all Outcasts choose to worship them and some may not even tolerate them. The nomads ultimate goals don't exactly match up with Outcasts so hostility is still natural and in-lore. I believe it might be cardamine due to that being the age-old theory that, due to lack of knowledge by almost anyone on the substance, could be true. However I also think it might just be that the nomads realise that having an enemy on their doorstep would only hinder their plans to begin with.

I don't think so, the only thing you need to destroy the OC is to destroy Malta's biota. A simple asteroid could do it, the nomads wouldn't even need to use their planet killer.
