One minor mistake is enough in this world to make your most frightening dreams become true. Unfortunately Apollo made that ''minor'' mistake which led him to where he is now. Fortunately his companion named Enma Loyola successfully tractored Apollo's life pod and managed to land safely, away from that hunter and away from danger. Spending a few days on a Liberty Rogue base stationed in system named ''Humboldt'' Enma had to contact the only person that knew Apollo and that person was a Junker's Congress acting arbiter - James Mckenna which had contacts with The Oracle. Apollo's health was critical at the that moment, he was in a coma, his heart was barely bumping and his pulse became less noticeable. As Enma contacted James, she made her way to Malta, that was by James's words "the only way to save his life". After a few days of flying and avoiding being spotted by any pilot whatsoever she managed to land on Malta safely. There she handed Apollo's body to one specific -person- with lots of tattoos on his body. That -person- moved him to... The Temple
The Temple is located on Malta somehow hidden yet it is easy to notice. There are several grassy mesas where they grow cardi. Near there is a buried black obelisk where only the pointy part sticks above ground. The black pyramid is where the hybrids live and dwell and keep all the active artifacts they find...yet it looks like a typical cardamine plantation. The specific -person- moved Apollo's body into that pyramid. The inside is nothing like it is on the outside. White walls with and orange stripes. Upon entering the pyramid a person that entered it would be surprised with how massive the hallway really is. Upon -person's- arrival, the medics that are there dispatched one merely white stretcher where they placed Apollo's body. A few -nurses- were pushing the stretch while the -person- was following them from behind. At the mere end of that hallway was a room with gray doors with X marked on them, they moved Apollo to that room and placed his body on the bed which was at the very center of that room.
The room was big, it was covered in large white plates which reflected the light that was coming from a large spotlight that was placed right above the bed in which was Apollo. Around the room there were numerous lockers in which nurses kept their tools.
Apollo's condition was critical, his face had a 3rd degree burns. His face was damaged permanently. The nurses used white soft bandages to cover his face. Apollo was still in coma without and showed few signs of life. As they covered his face with bandages they prepared him for a -special infusion- . After a minutes a tall white man entered the room carrying 2 medium bottles of liquid that had a color similar to indigo. The man grabbed a chair that was in the very corner of the room and slowly approached Apollo's bed. With the help of the nurses that were with him they successfully placed needles in his veins and let the indigo liquid flow, drop by drop. Soon after that, the man which came with the bottles signalized to those nurses that it was time to leave. They all left expect that specific -person- which kept standing in the corner with one leg half-lifted at the back. He waited and waited for Apollo to wake up... unfortunately nothing happened, so the -person- had to take the chair and sit. He didn't sat near Apollo's bed, on the contrary, he sat in that same corner where he used to stand.
After a few hours Apollo opened his eyes and started breathing heavily with lots of difficulties. As he had little room for his lips, he hardly could talk properly. He was out of his strength, yet he strained in order to say a few words or ask a few questions like: " Where am I? Where am I?! ". The -person- that was sitting in the corner whispered to Apollo that everything will be alright and that he should rest and save his strength. After few more tries to say something Apollo fell to sleep. Soon after that, the one that was sitting in the corner stood up and left the room.
Old re awakened eyes looked at the report. This person's incubi was the type to symbiotically co exist, but its most precious structures.. those that enabled the merging between man and incubi were removed.. a small simple set of what looked like nervous redirection implants kept it alive.
He senses great pain from the creature. even more was confusion.. the body was warm and electric but soon enough even that wouldn't sustain them.
It was dying.. and with it a part of apollos mind would die with it.
"Doctor?" A med tech asked.
"Yes?" Liam replied looking at what parts were missing from the incubi.. looked more like a carved turkey now..
"The patient's neural readings are dropping and the host is going into shock as it does so.. if were going to do this.." Liam cut her off.
"Implant the incubi with the wrym and when that's complete keep the host on a dialysis of 3% Potassium iodide and Chromium." Liam instructed..
he turned to see that the procedure was ready.. but they had halted.. they had never implanted one of their genetically modified wyrms into an incubi directly without the host fully attached. It was an opportunity... and again.. it what what some would call.. mad science.
"Implanting." the tech posted.
Liam watches steadily dropping energy waves erratically change... as hoped immediately structures began to encase the outcast implants and metabolise them some very unusual changing occurred... as while much of the bonding structures returned some regrew unexpectedly from areas uncommon to this breed of incubi.. hesitating for a moment the new structures found the spine and began to hook in..
The host reacted violently.. but as quickly as the surged and seizures began.. they stopped..
"Seems stable?" the tech asked..
"Vat would you expect from Apollo? greek god of Oracles.. Continue the dialysis and make sure any cyanide is processed and analyzed.. we wouldn't want to have to move him to the green level." He instructed..
There was a meeting.. James was unavailable.. thomas was out in space.. Satrina was teaching on the surface.. Liam smirked at how much had changed.. but.. despite his long absence... through the valley of death... as it were.. he was still proceeding with the program Nysk laid out centuries before...
Apollo was in a recovery ward.. glands that leaked cyanide.. a common side effect of the nebula rich infusion used in the process to hybridise malta's "sensitive" hopefuls..
Liam unbandaged a slowly healing burnt face.. the scales of a reptile underneath.. and the skin growing over it was coming along.. and needed air.
Two images constantly changing in Apollo's head, that moment when everything became dark and meaningless. The fight between him and Apollo, the explosion, the fire in his eyes, images repeating over and over again. But there is always hope, that light that we all seek is far yet so close.
Slowly walking through the dark towards light, towards salvation, he didn't hesitate he was moving as fast as he could, but he was weak. The path seemed endless and the mind became weaker and weaker. In order to salvage your soul you have to be ready for everything, you have to be able to pass every obstacle to overcome every fear you have.
As he was walking through the dark towards light, things around him became lighter as he was closing towards the light. Little that he know, he found himself in the forest.
The refreshing spring breeze and air would cheer even the most frowned person, but he didn't care much about the forest, all he knew and that was in his eyes was the end, the end of the -void- , end of the darkness, the path of salvation which he had to complete in order to save himself. Calmly walking down the forest, following the dirt path he didn't think about anything, his mind was rather blank and his face dull, yet he was happy on the inside that there was no more darkness around him. As he was walking with his head bowed he passed by one person. He realized that someone else is there with him, but was afraid to turn around and face it.
He slowed down, but the fear was there, the uncertainty of should he or not turn remained so he continued walking. you have to be able to overcome every fear you have, so he did, he turned around and faced... What he faced was nothing what he expected it to be, on contrary, it was the total opposite. What he faced was a woman, nothing like he ever seen before even in his previous visions. A woman in a white dress with a dark hair and charming smile. She was not speaking at all, just signalized him with her finger to follow her steps. He followed her, step by step, the dirt path disappeared and instead there was a soft green spring grass. The woman that he was following had nothing on her feet, yet she was walking like on the clouds. Possessed by her beauty the hours long walks seemed like seconds. Walking as they were, he was not tired at all...
Soon, the women disappeared from his sight, but in front of him instead of her where doors, doors with purple frame and light in the middle. Without any fear he entered that door and continued walking...
A few moments later he found himself lying in bed.
Surrounded by nurses, he was in the bed which was placed at the very center of the room with a light on top of his bed. Slowly moving his head that was covered in bandages he noticed a middle-aged man sitting on his left side of the bed and smiling. "Are you awake brother Apollo" - the man asked. Apollo didn't say a word, but he confirmed by blinking. In his head everything was mixed and he had a lot of questions that needed to be answered, but before that his health was more important and he knew that very well.
Trying to look around and -scan- the environment he managed to do minor things like moving his head a bit left and right. On his left there was that middle-aged man the black suit, on his right there were a few nurses and a doctor that was preparing something. What he couldn't see was a man sitting in the corner behind his bed. The man was silent, he was rather -invisible- to others. Slowly moving his eyes, he noticed thing attached to his hands and chest. "Don't worry about those brother Apollo, those will help you, trust me" - the middle-aged said.
"Who are you and why should I trust you?" - Apollo asked. He could barely speak and sentence would consume a lot of his energy which he needed the most. "I am here to help you - the men added while gently tapping Apollo's left shoulder. With that sentence finished, the middle-aged man stood up and walked up to a doctor. While that man and the doctor were speaking to each other, the man form the corner stood up and passed by Apollo's bed. That one was moving towards the exit, but he turned our for a moment and looked Apollo directly in his eyes while smiling. He didn't know that person, yet his face was too familiar. Having not much strength his ability of recognizing faces was minor.
The middle-aged man and that doctor were discussing something which Apollo couldn't hear mostly because the bandages were partially covering his ears. His face suffered severe damage from the explosion, he lost some hair, but the frontal part suffered much more damage that the back one. What seemed like a liquid cardamine that was being injected in his right hand helped him regenerate his face as well as reduce the pain.
A few moments after, the one that left the room came back wearing the same smile as the one when he left the room. Moving slowly towards the chair in the corner behind Apollo's bed. Apollo had difficulties in moving his head in order to see the person that came into the room, but he failed in doing so because of the bandages and the pain in his back as well as his neck. Not knowing what to expect he addressed the middle-aged man - "Please, can you?", the man walked up to Apollo's bed and responded - "Yes?", "Who is that man behind me?" - Apollo asked, "There is nobody behind you brother Apollo, I think you should rest" - the men responded.
Barely understanding what is happening, he laid down and closed his eyes trying to clear his mind. As soon as he closed his eyes the women in the white dress appeared like a flash and after a a brief moment he woke up. "You have been sleeping Apollo, how are you feeling?" - the middle-aged man asked. "I have been better, where am I and how did I get here?" - Apollo asked. The question were there, ready to be answered, his condition was getting better every hour and with better condition there was more strength and with more strength there where more questions. The middle-aged man was doing his best in trying to explain to Apollo what happened, but some questions could not be answered. "Is -HE- alright signori?" - Apollo asked with timid voice. That question is yet to be answered.
" You look fine. The question though.. being back together is whether you're willing to depart as something completely new and wondrous... Or remain and learn with us." Laim said. cooly.
the other presence in the room approached making herself known. The matron, the divine intellect that was able to hold a fragmented mind and hoped it would heal.
She wasn't sure all the seams were gone but unity was more or less there. A beginning.
"You're safe now. Disconnected from the tyranny of the individual.. but we.. the unity will not keep you here if you feel the answers are.. out within the great black dream. We are still exploring ourselves.. Inside.. and outside.." she touched what was scarred facial tissue. not quite corrected.. but apollo would unlock how to heal those things in short time.
"The Oracles share many mysteries amongst ourselves... We are still learning much about our place. Though as an old man I had hoped when or If i awoke as you had I would know the answers. " Liam Looked to Satrina.
"Nysk didnt know everything though.. Ive learned much.. we all have to find our own place. But again.. we are unified.. our minds are not mystery to one another.. So.. apollo.. should you deem it.. to keep that name. You are home.. you are among family. and you are reborn." she stroked his head assuringly.
He would know they spoke no lies. and that since he was alive it meant not only a surprise but something unexpected. The family was growing. and it would continue to grow.
The pain became unbearable, -He- became weaker and the solution... was nowhere to be found. The face behind the bandages will never be the same, yet the soul will remain. After Satrina's visit and observation, Apollo fell to what doctors would say coma, but to Apollo it was just a beginning of a long and frightening journey.
His previous visions and dreams contained a women that never showed her face, every time he was behind her, following her steps. Like those times Apollo found himself in the forest, only this time it wasn't spring, it was winter. The same woman, same dress, same hair, same forest...
She was was barefoot the snow was cold and the path was not so clear. Slowly following her, step by step, asking himself "is this yet another vision, or is it somewhat different?" Apollo's face wasn't covered in bandages, he had no scars and no signs of damage, To him things became more difficult to understand, yet he kept following her. Stepping onto the cold snow, watching the ground as he was walking something hit him in the head. It was an... apple that fell from the tree. Slowly observing the forest, Apollo stopped and frowned. The trees around him didn't have leaves nor apples, yet this one fell on his head. He picked the apple from the ground, look glanced at the women in front of him an took a bite of that apple. Suddenly the clouds dispersed and the sun came out. He smiled and looked upon the sky, it was blue and the sine was shinning, everything was beautiful, but it was just an illusion.
The women that Apollo was following stopped for a reason, they've reached the end and that apple was just a gateway... gateway what soon will appear to be the horror. The ground that was covered in snow started disappearing and he started falling. Few moments later, he found himself again... in the forest, but this wasn't a regular forest, it was dark as the night, the trees had weird shapes and the whole place was covered in muddy grass. Apollo had hope, as always and he started looking for something that could help him exit that foul place. After quite a while he found the path leading towards the light. The light in the distance was so small that the path seemed to be endless. Having no other options, but to follow the path that was leading towards the light, Apollo started walking slowly. There were million things on his mind at that time that he could barely notice anything around him. He wasn't scared... he was frightened, but his courage was always there.
Looking at the light in the distance and wondering what is it, something black moved in front of him and with a speed of light disappeared. The brushes that were nearby Apollo started rustling as something was moving. Apollo started running towards the light, but lost his strength shortly. Something was hunting him, but he didn't know what nor why. Soon after he stopped running, Apollo was... at the end, a cliff was in front of him so was the light, yet in the farther distance. Apollo looked behind him and saw a creature hiding behind the tree. "Who are you?" - Apollo asked. The creature was not responding. "Who-are-you?!" - Apollo asked again angrily. The creature started running towards Apollo with only one plan - to execute him. Apollo pulled out his knife and sliced the creature's throat. The knife was covered in black blood something that Apollo never seen in his life. His heart was bumping and the blood pressure raised, he turned his head towards the cliff and the light in the distance and saw a reflection. Throwing his knife away, he went to find was he saw from the reflection, after a few moments he found a wooden bridge that was leading into darkness. Having no other options but to continue, Apollo slowly and carefully started walking towards the light.
He became exhausted from all the walking, but the end was near, or so he thought...
The end of the wooden bridge was near and the light became larger and larges. As the bridge finished the path was covered in purple liquid, the light was near him it was brighter than a sun. Apollo approached the light and it became less bright, from out of nowhere the white doors appeared in from of him. He did hesitate to open the door, but when he did, he woke up.
His room was empty, no doctors, no nurses, no brother Liam and no -him- . Apollo de-attached the thing from his body and stood up. Left from his bed there was a box, a brown wooden box with a note on top of it saying "For you". He opened the box and inside of it there was... a mask. His face was no longer covered in bandages, the doctor took it off while he was in coma. Afraid to look at the mirror, he pot the mask on his face, dressed and left the -hospital- . In his left jacket pocket he found another note the note was: "Hangar B-1, you will find your ship there" . Apollo went to said direction and picked up a Sabre and quickly left the Planet. His destination was... Corsica.
Corsica Outer Sanctum - the only place where Apollo felt truly safe. After everything that happened, the only thing that truly mattered was -HIM- to grow and be safe. -HE- is weak at the moment, it will take time to fully heal and continue growing. For now... they must rest.
