*random noises followed by a loud sigh* A'ight. Name's Jimmy. Jimmy O'Brian. I don't even know why I'm telling that, no-one's goin' to hear this. Guess it just fits. *another sight* I decided to create this... log... or diary of sorts, just to keep my head from exploding. It's been not even a weak since I first crossed the borders of New York and... well Sirius is much larger and darker I ever imagined it to be. I guess that's what happens if one's only source of info are official news.
Anyways. Soon after I began my travels, I joined an interesting group of freelancers. They are good guys and have some nice contracts, which proved invaluable for getting cash. Thanks to that I could soon afford to buy some nice ships. But I soon found out that those guys do more than just trade and escort people. They actually care for the weak. Hell they even risk smuggling black market munitions all the way from Rheinland to Leeds, just to help the resitance a little.
I was on one of these trips with them. That was the first time when I trully realised just how twisted and stupid some of the house laws are. I mean... one must even smuggle refugees from Leeds. I have to say I was on the edge for the whole time. Not even a week traveling the Sirius and here I am, smuggling black market weapons to the warzone and refugges out. But hell, it was worth it. We managed to evacuate more than a thousand refugees from that hellhole Galia turned Leeds into.

A'ight, this is mad. No, it's insane. *sigh* Where to begin... When we were returning with the refugees, colonel with another member of our group spoted nomad. A big one. That... thing lingered there for a bit and when they slowly aproached it, it ran. Colonel thought it odd, that a blue is so far from 'crons, and decided we should investigate. So we did. The next day we joined with Zoner captain Sullivan with his ship Exodus and went to 'crons. The trip waas lenghty and for the most part boring. But then we got to the right systems.
Omicron Minor, they called the first one. There it started to be interesting? Yeah, that too, but mostly... unsettling and creepy. I mean... we found an jump gate and partialy build "trade" lane... made by those damn blues! We followed the lane to the nebula at to my terrible surprise we found that it's part was hollowed out! All the rocks were removed and there was large clearing, just where the lane ended. This scared me even more, even though I wouldn't think thats possible anymore. It took a lot of selfcontrol not to panic there. It really took.
*large silence interrupted by Jimmy gulping some drink*
And then we did it. We actually jumped through the damned alien gate... to find a system, with a functioning trade lane network, freakishly large defense platforms and... yeah. Four.. no five more jump gates. Four of them were packed together some... twenty? Thirty thousand clicks from the one we came through? I don't know. Colonel took me with him and we went to get a closer look. What we found was... it was... dammit, I can't even say it now! It meant trouble. For us, for houses, for the whole Sirius.
And then, they came. The nomads. First was the same one colonel saw earlier. Colonel decided it's time to go, although in my opininon that time was long gone, we should't stayed there for that long. We run for the gate but... they swarmed at us. Thanks... god... universe... whoever really, that Sully agreed to go with us. If that big ship of his wasn't there we wouldn't make it. We managed to dock in it and Sully took us back through the gate, but those blues pursued and though they weren't able to completely destroy him... there sure messed him up badly. I... damn it, so many people probably died in that ship. *Jimmy's voice cracks for a moment*
We... we managed to get Exodus to the Freeport, and the rest of us returned to... more civilized places. I... oh for god's sake... *laud click*

Well, that was interesting. After our... venture to 'crons, I decided to put up a reward for nomad sightings, since I'm really not comfortable with not knowing where they might appear. I've got a few responses already, but I can't deduce anything from them yet, I just don't have enough data. What was interesting however, is the message I got from some Ezreal Vertiga. Guy seemed to know a lot bout the blues and was willing to share more, just not through the Net.
We met in O-49 and... hell, it was really interesting. I mean... an independent guy with Mako? And he... really believed the things he said I am sure of it. It was a lot of interesting informations he was willing to share, but... well I'm uncertain if I believe it. I think I'll try to confirm some of what he said, the safest thing to try would probably be finding that... interesting system, not to mention that if it really contains jumpholes to home systems of houses I'd really like to know where exactly they lead.
Hmh... and I should probably find some safe place to store data, don't want it to blew up with Firefly if I ever get into trouble... *laud click*

*the recording begins with Jimmy's loud sigh* I thought the nomads were the most dangerous thing out there. I'm beginning to think I'm wrong. What happened in the last few days seriously got me thinking. Solitaire Metropolis, nice base with a good stuff to trade with, got targeted. By whom? Hessians. Humans. Why, well I'm not really sure, but probably because he refused to pay them. *sigh* This is just plain stupid. I can understand fighting between houses for more space or resources, I can, really. But targeting private station, because they didn't pay for your "protection"? No, I can't understand that. *his voice slowly grows angrier* Hell, if this'll continue nomads can just sit and wait. We'll do their job for them. Dammit, I really hope someone will teach these idiots a lesson! How could they even get so strong?! *Recording ends with loud crack, something probably broke.*

*Recording starts with drinking sounds. They stop after a while and sound of glass being put on table can be heard* Phew. I needed this. *sigh* I can't believe, we actually met a friendly nomad! Well, sure, it was just the little one and Vertigo told me before, that the little ones are harmless, if you don't attack them, but.. still. Even more interesting was the fact that he was... lost and scared. Huh. Scared nomad? And then... Redfire came up with the idea, that we'll smuggle him to Omicrons so he can go home. I can't believe I let him convince me that's a good idea.
Well so we did. Surprisingly easy it was. Nobody stopped us, nobody questioned us, and the nomad tried to show us some... system. I don't know which one, but I'll hope I know it, when I see it. It was... interesting. Maybe there is a chance for us to have peace with them. Perhaps....
*long silence*
Oh, who am I kidding. There won't be any peace. They tried to kill us once, they'll try it again. And if not, than we will, 'cause that's what we do. *sigh* Damn it all. *loud click*

Well, I went and did it. I actually rented a VIP suite on OSC|Atlantis. Who would have thought I could afford something like that. This Neural net terminal looks all fancy, I just hope I'll be able to put some good encryption software into it. Perhaps Hackers might have some ideas. And they should be at least... open to communication, since we did the job for them. And they like Abigail, for whatever reason. I should probably send some comm their way.
Speaking of Abigail... that lass gave me an idea. I should probably celebrate the fact I have this apartement... and that I'm making so much money as a freelancer. Making a party is probably a good way to do it, hehe. I just hope they let visitors here. Probably should ask about that, before I start organizing anything. And bring some good drinks here... probably should ask Abigail to choose some music, too. Hm.. let's see... *recording ends with Jimmy humming some melody*

Finally, the things are moving again. Hackers are comunicating and it seems the servers are easier to get than I thought. Now I just have to think about places where I'll put them. One will be in my suite on the Atlantis, that's for sure, but what for the other two? Some remote base would be nice, but where? Definitely not Rheinland, with all them Hessians around. Liberty is out of question too, there's too much of a mess right now. Kusari might be a thing, but I rarely fly there. That leaves Bretonia and some independents. Well, I'll see, perhaps I'll find something in the future.
The other plan is progressing too. Cuchulain is outfited with armour and weapons at last. And the spare parts should arrive soon. I'll just have to wait for the database to be working. I really don't want to upload info from that system just anywhere. Could be really messy if someone found it.

Interesting people these hackers. Ineresting... and odd. But they certainly know their way around Neural Net. The servers they provided are amazing. I hid them in quite remote places and yet there is almost no delay when I connect to the database, regardless of my position. I began transfering all the stuff to the servers, so I can erase the sensitive stuff from my regular storage, but it'll take some time. I have to be carefull not to mess the database up. But it is up and running and that's the thing. Since Cuchulain is fully equiped and supplied, I'll go scout that weird system as soon as I'm finished with the database.

Phew... today was.... an interesting day. After those run-ins with Hackers I really needed some good news. Well, in the end I had to make them for myself, but it was worth it. The Liner I maged to get was perfect for the job. I feared it will have trouble in the asteroids, as Exodus had, back when we went to nomad space, but luckily, the liner is not nearly as big. Though commanding it is something completely different from my Firefly. But well, we got to Dabadoru and back, without anyone interruptin' us, so I think it's good.
And I even managed to make a good cash as an escort later. And here I was, thinking only traders can make big money. Boy was I wrong. I'm not sure how many of those IMG fellows were in that convoy, but it certainly was worth my time. They went from Taus to Berlin and back, with a quick detour to S-19. I'll defininitely try to get to their convois again.
Hm... that reminds me... I should probably try to get some mining equipement and know how. I mean... sure, we can try hire some freelance miners, but I'd be happier if we could mine it ourselves. Hm... maybe some message to BMF... *the recording goes on for a while before it stops. Looks like Jimmy forgot to end recording.*

*Monotne humming can be heard in the background of the the recording. The voice itself seems to be recorded with less quality than before, perhaps it was recorded in a spacecraft.* A'ight. I think I'll better record this. The date is 18.9. 823 AS, time is *voice goes silent for a moment* 16:54 SMT. I'm looking at the damaged alien jumpgate in Kansas. Okay, let's do this, initiate the jump gate sequence. *several clicking noises* What? Can't jump through? Why in the hell, Redfire was able to jump just fine. *sigh* Allright, let's try it again. Diagnostic? Online, good, Initiating gate sequence. *he pauses for a moment* And nothing. Oh well, let's see what the diagnostic got. Huh. Ship is too big? What the... I'm in bloody Spatial, the gate s almost twice as big! *sigh* A'ight, nevermind, I'll do it with Sidhe. More cargo space and she has a cloak.
*a moment of static can be heard, before the recording continues. The humming is there again, but this time it has a slightly different tone. His voice sounds about the same.*
Okaaay, let's do this again. The date is 21.9. 823 AS, time is 21:04 SMT. I'm sitting in my Sidhe in front of the gate. Diagnostics are online, initiating Jump gate sequence. *silence for a moment, than a sudden burst of static. After a few seconds, everything returns to normal* Well, looks like it worked. Let's see. Radiation... well definitely above normal, and probably higher than anywhere in Omicrons, but Sidhe should hold for a while. Okay, NavMap... huh. I'd thought it would mark this planet, but the map is empty. Well, nevermind, i'll just have to record it.
Okay, seems to me the NavMap can pick up those two stars... hm, adjusting the sector's width and height, there we go. So, the gate dropped me somwhere in E-7. One big gas giant in D-7 and his satelite in D -6/7. Hm... unkwown. Who would have guessed. It looks like there is an asteroid field in front of me. Let's see... yeah, checks with what Redfire reported. Well, here we go. *the humming gets stronger. Jimmy is quiet for some time*
So far so good. There seems to be some planet 70 no, 80 clicks ahead. Le't go look at her. *lengty pause, when only the humming of engines and ocasional clicking on console can be heard* Well, here I'am so... what the? Trade lane rings? Got to get closer. Uh huh. Lane rings, just like those we saw in Minor and Iota... inactive, of course. And what's that? A jump hole right next to a planet? Huh. Unknown. Weird. Usually the scans are able to determine where does it lead. Nevermind, let's follow the lane for a bit, see where it takes me. Oh, for the record, planet and jump gate D/E -1, trade lane going straigt from 1 to 2 following the D/E border.*another pause*
Huh. Kinda dissapointing to be fair. I somehow expected these rings to lead me somwhere. Nevermind. NavMap still empty? Yeah... must be the radiation. Okay, setting up route... done, this should allow me to scout most of this system. *sigh* Another boring times. *lenghty pause* What the bloody hell is this? I'm in bottom left corner of F-3, at least according to the grid I set up. This... could it be the station Redfire was talking about? Blast me, this thing looks weird. Well, not going to dock there that's for sure. *pause* Hm... one... two... three, yeah, those are the weird pylons Redfire was talking about. They are in top left corner of C-4. It appears there is a small clearing in the asteroid field. Okay, this should be everything Redfire reported, but the Jump gates. Let's continue with the search for now.
*this time the pause is unusually long*
There we go! Huh, they are actually quite close to the Jump Gate, deffinitely closer than I thought. Dammit, the Map is behaving again... okay I think they are somewhere in the the D or E -5 sector, but my map is unable to show my position as of now. Okay, Liberty, Order, Bretonia, Kusari and Rheinland. Yup, all five of them. Well, let's try the Liberty one. Diagnostics online, initiating jump gate sequence. 3-2-1- Jump. *a few seconds of static* Okay, loo... what the hell! BLAST IT, BADLANDS! TURN, TURN, TU...*recording ends with loud crash and sounds of bending metal*
