Missiles should be fearsome. Fighter missiles are, well a joke. Too easy to avoid, and deal very little damage.
Gunboat missiles are as perfect as can be. They track well, have decent range and do a respectable amount of damage. GB missiles are scary, effective, but can be countered by those who know what they're doing - and - take so much energy to fire nowadays that one can't simply mount 4 missile turrets and insta-kill any small craft they come across.
