Ladies and Gentlemen let's take a step back, have a breather, and look at a few things.
In the seven years I've been on Discovery, things have grown, and changed for better and for worse. There used to be give or take 10-15 people who RP'd creatures or such that were anthromorphic. We've had the infamous Kangaraptor with his actual dragon if I recall on a junker ship that would attack people, to a person I've held in respect playing a sentient Pokemon. There were those who were roleplaying being transformed into part-tree/part-human deviations with Aperture.
There were good rp's.
There were bad ones to.
For the namesake of supporting this, Toris is trying to add practicality into why people wish to do these kind of roleplays.
Quote:Mr Fabulous-
Had the furry disco-members at the time, say, banded together to create an entire SRP planetary sector dedicated to the emergence of anthropomorphic beings, as an example, the community may have been more accepting of them and slowly get used to them as time goes on, instead of the Deus-ex machina mary-sue characters that made a bad name for furries here.
Out of respect of the past players who are now gone like Peter Kristal and such, we actually did have that discussion. But due to the nature of multiple players at that time, it would've been a total slug fest upon those players by trolls and grievers in the community. It was abandoned out of players wanting to play safely.
Everyone here has the right of opinion. They can like and dislike things. It's their god given free will to do so.
Out of the sake of transparency with every possible RP I have conducted with my characters over the last few years, with the exclusions of when I first came to creating them years ago, I've learned to ask the people I wished to RP with if they would be willing to work with such before starting. They had the option of saying no as well. I asked the Contari Lance leader on such with Vulpe. I offered the RP with what I had on my supported Valor and GRN ships. He did not say no but I would not improve in rank was the agreement if I recall. With The Core| I surrendered and gave Lyth at the time and then implosion the opprotunity to RP dealing with Agatha. I could've had that character killed off at any time. And I wouldn't have argued against it.
That being said, for the past year I have been looking at my impact with the characters that I've created in Discovery as a whole. And to work with a lot of the nay sayers I officially will say this because many of you might not know.
With the exclusion of my character Vulpe Felanis. Not one of my characters are genetically modified or engineered humans. Felanis is an altered clone who will officially be killed off at the end of this year due to a breakdown of his entire genetic structure.
After the ban back in April of last year I had taken a long look at what could be changed to at least in the most minimal of possiblities to be accepted by the community. The most occurring argument was the sense of genetics, so I threw that out. And with a lil help from the game Stellaris (Which is a nice game you lot should try it) I decided to look at the facts that happen in Freelancer as a whole. From the Sol escape to present time. While its not fully completed, I've decided to post the planned revision in a nutshell for the community to review.
In a short essay, my revision around my main characters here was from a very unthought out form genetic alteration, to following the end results of the story campaign in Freelancer in the activation of the Hypergates by Trent. If anyone here knows about the Star Trek universe, there is a planet with the species called the XIndi. They're a multi factional race made up of several different species that had evolved to become sentient, but not without their conflicts. Thus is where my revised story begins. As you all know my characters did not come into Discovery until late 4.85.
The factual starting point is System Epsilon Canis Majoris. You may look this up for the record if you wish. In creation of a fictional planet name for one of the planets within that system, Planet Oltenia. With the noticed activation of a Dom Kavosh (Who in which my characters lightly reference to the work of their god) Hypergate, their planetary governments came to a uneasy peace to explore and study the gate that was found on the dark side of their nearby moon. Which lead to the construction of the F.E.V. Adhara, their first exploration cruiser. After entering the gate they are transported directly towards Sirius. But. If many recall the ending of the story campaign, the nomads are being sucked into the Hypergate.
This is where my characters meet their fate and are divided. Allow me to show you a scene of what ensues during transit.
The rest will have a revised history of how each character joins their represented factions within the BAF, RFP, GMG, and Order.
Now why am I showing the community this you may ask?
Clarification, transparency, and continuance.
Clarification onto where I plan to go with my characters and how their retconned origins are changed. Transparency into what the changes made were. And possible continuance to stay with members of the community and to continue all of our stories in a manner that benefits us all.
I am more than willing to have a reasonable discussion with members of the community on this so that things are cleared up. Not wanting to ruin a great game, but to add to its stories even in the smallest of means. Even if you wish to suggest changes to my characters, that does not destroy them, to improve combined gameplay with everyone, don't be afraid to speak.
I only wish to continue with what has made great friendships with members of the community without having to start entirely anew.

If people stopped trying to force things into people faces that aren't even part of the FL lore, maybe they'd be "bullied" less. (because apparently negative opinions or trying to correct someone is bullying now)
Bret, come on. You know I have no issue with you, but dude. If an entire existence of a character revolves around it having fur, then you're doing it for the wrong reasons. Trying to bend the rules and toe the line isn't going to help, that's evident with Toris's robot "totally not a furry guys i swear". Bret and the others can exist without having animal ears. Importing Star Trek lore isn't going to help.
The world would be better if we could draw up our strings and propel forward with compromise. If he must eat cake screaming at him about diabeetus wont do anything but make you look like a prick who hates fat people.
LET HIM RP A FAT PERSON for god's sake. This place ain't a literary goldmine!
besides in start citizen the furries get THIS ship

Gallia.
Why would anyone be bothered by how some other player looks? You have to be either racist, homophobe or xenophobe to even arrive at the conclusion that the existance of Furries damages Disco.

Also, pls no imports.

What I'm showing is not an import. It's is the founding idea in which was used to create the revision. Thus not an import.

This, so much of this.
The problem isn't furries themselves, it has never been. There are plenty of furry members on disco, but unlike you two they aren't constantly trying to pose as victims of the community or deliberately attempting over and over to shove their furry roleplay in the face of every single member here.
The furry ban is essentially due to you two being impossible to manage. You keep shoving the blame on the community but it's you two that are completely incapable of not doing anything without including "BUT LOOK IT HAS FUR" every 5 minutes.

With all due respect alley, I do not see such as being impossible to manage when I stated previously:
Quote:I've learned to ask the people I wished to RP with if they would be willing to work with such before starting. They had the option of saying no as well.
With everything shown I have absolutely zero reason to try and pose as a victim when I have done nothing wrong on the extent of destroying the community. The last time I did something as harmful to the server was back in 2012 for afking in space and my first powergaming attempt in the +LE+. Nearly 5 years ago.

I simply found it a shame that you wrote a pretty neat roleplay post about your BAF admiral character giving a speech, and I couldn't take it seriously / consider it an actual event within the universe because the character had a tail, fur, and cat ears for no apparent reason.
That more or less sums up how I feel about furries in Freelancer.
