Due to recent advances in construction and developement, the U-294 was a lot easier to construct than earlier models of the U-boats. The BDM had the outer hull and basic systems installed by Daumann at the Oder Shipyard, then took over the construction at a private location to ensure it met their standards. Such improvements to the standard design include a further reinforcement of the original hull, to withstand fire from the heaviest of battle-transports that smugglers are starting to use, as well as an improved cargo scanner, to filter out the smugglers and pirates from lawful traders at further distances. Finally, the U-294 was put through a series of tests to determine if it was ready to serve in active duty. The ship and it's crew passed with flying colours, a testament to the skill of both the BDM's ship architects and pilots. In early 824, the U-294 was handed over to it's first captain, Inpektor Ohlendorf, for personal use, and while it is still in it's early days, it has a promising future within Büro der Marineintelligenz
